I was going to post a similar question.
I was raised Nothing then when I was 10 my mom got divorced and we went to Catholic church/school. I believed in that until I was about 25 and heard about all the priests molesting kids and read the sordid history of Christianity.
Basically, I believe in God but I wont give money or time to a man-created church because none of them seem to be honest or worthwhile. God can hear you if you pray alone in your head so I see no need to go sit with a bunch of hypocrites and confess my sings to some guy who likely is far far worse than me.
Raised nothing, now I'm agnostic. Not really a big difference. There are so many things about all religions I find bizzare or make me uncomfortable. Like the whole eating the body of Christ thing. Pretending to be cannibals? Weirds me out.
Religion is mostly a sales job on the ignorance of ancient people. It does not explain the universe, life, or creation. The pursuit of religion encourages unhealthy cognitive biases such as confirmation bias. Keeping the masses a bit dumb makes them easier to control.
Raised Fundamental Christian, now....somewhere between Athiest and Anti-thirst. Unitarian is as close as I get to religion.
if you ask it shall be given to u, seek and u shall find, knock and the door will be opened to u.
i come from catholic and now I'm a spirit filled christian.
Wasn't raised in a religious household, went from Baptist to Mormon to what the fuck ever. I was never able to nail down most of the concepts these churches proposed. They just sounded odd.
