Usually when people try to merge on the highway I just speed up to allow them to merge rather than change lanes. It's a kind of roundabout courtesy. Assuming someone isn't in front of you, changing lanes sometimes just seems like such a waste of time.
Does anyone else do this?
I try to gauge their speed and either slow down a bit or speed up to either let them get ahead or behind me as the circumstance permits. The ones I hate are the timid ones that slow down and are terrified of merging. They should get proper training or stay off the freeways.
It depends on how good your vehicle can accelerate and how skillful you are as a driver I would think. Cool move though. Hope nobody thinks you're being a dick when they also try to speed ahead of you. Lol.
