The first time I really watched American football was the Superbowl a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised how quickly I picked up the rules and how engaging I found it. I'd definitely watch it again.
Rugby is a sport we played a lot of at school, and I broke my finger which is now permanently bent doing a bad tackle. I like it, but I was never very good at it because I'm not bulky enough. I don't think I'd be very good at American football either, because the skill sets strike me as being quite similar.
I'll have to think about this one. Hmm.
i like rugby, but american football is tied with "real" football(soccer) for me. playing in the backyard with your friends in the snow is so much fun. size is important like rugby but speed and open field ability is just as important. and i view football as more cerebral. in defense you need to be able to anticapate your opponets. i love playing as a free saftey in the defense, being able to read the QB's eyes and undercut the passes.
so do it dom... you know you want to, vote football
Rugby but I'm biased coming from the UK and not having played or seen much American football. I'm sure if I grew up with American football I'd choose the opposite.
I think they both require speed, strength and the bravery to charge passed and often through people your physical equal.
Sorry to the Rugby "fans" but I tried to watch a game or two before and it really looks like a simpletons sport. I respect it for the roughness factor, but the rules of the game do not interest me.
I am American and I love both Professional and College Football.
Also love MMA, Basketball, Ice Hockey.
Soccer is extremely boring to me, it's basically Ice Hockey in slow motion, with less violence.
Rugby League myself. Though I can do tolerate a game of rugby union...... if I'm drunk :P
I like them both. I know much more about American football, so I will go with that.
Baseball?
Um. I pick rugby. Simply cos I like this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTpXymuwxNs
I hate American Football, there's way too much standing around, waiting, pausing the time. And only half the team can ever play at once! Rugby is much more fast paced and exciting to watch. And play for that matter.
I love rugby. I find it much more engaging than football, and even my smallish city has a few rugby teams.
I enjoyed playing "Tag Rugby'' at school but not the proper game. Definitely not a sport I would watch on TV.
For years I just assumed NFL was like rugby with more protection, but I was clearly wrong. I've started to get into it over the past few months, still need to learn a few rules but I understand the basics.
I love watching giant men in spandex tights jump on top of each other, and then another whole 30 seconds between plays where I can just watch their asses as they huddle.
