Scar that opens every winter

I have a scar in the middle of my bottom lip. It goes from the very bottom straight up into my mouth about a quarter of a centimeter.
I have had this scar for years. During summer, the scar is healed. However In The fall, winter, and spring, the scar opens. It isn't very painful. But it gets annoying. It will even get crusty on top but be either slimy or bloody under the crust. Is this normal? Does anyone know why it could be opening year after year?

Maybe for the same reason my hands cracked and bled for over 50 years in the fall and winter. I don't get thirsty in cooler weather so I drink very little water. Our bodies need a lot of water to function properly. I took me that many years to realize that I was dehydrated, even though I felt fine. When I began drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water a day my hands healed up in only 2 days. It's hard to drink that much when I'm not thirsty, but I just think of it as "taking my medicine" There are no adverse side affects to this medicine, except you have to pee a lot!

Maybe try stitching it closed, or opening it up with your fingers and pushing a hot knife or spoon into it to stop the bleeding?

Yep. You're definitely on your way to being a doctor.

Is that what they teach at Harvard?

No. This method may be painful and crude, but it's cheaper than going to a dermatologist to get skin treatment. The other alternative is to leave it alone, and risk developing an infection.

Maybe they taught it at Harvard 200 years ago?

That's not a scar, it's a leprosy lesion. Don't worry, leprosy is quite controllable these days. Your doctor can set you up with the right meds.

I am unable to physically swallow pills. So I would not be able to take said meds

Oh dear, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you crush up your pills and put them in liquid, you can drink your meds, no problem.
