Scary canoing dreams

I've been having these strange dreams about canoing. They happen often and I always wake up in a cold sweat. Here's the scenario. I'm in a canoe with my mom and a fancy lamp. The canoe is rocking really hard, but the lake is completely calm. My mom is grasping the lamp and crying. She's either rubbing the lamp on her cheek or her stomach. She has orange braces but in real life they are pink. Then the canoe suddenly stops rocking and the lamp flies up and smacks my mother in the face. The lamp shatters and my mother lets out a strangled gasp. Then she falls out of the boat, into a huge toilet. It is disgusting. Then, suddenly, Hades pops up from the Underworld and grabs my hand. Then I wake up. Is this normal? Is there any way to stop these nightmares?
