Scooter vs. skateboard for communting to work?

I'm going to start working at an office that's a 30 min. walk from home.
(I actually walked home back from the interview and it wasn't that bad)
So I'd like to try getting there on wheels.
I don't know how to skateboard, and I'm guessing a scooter gives you better balance or less probability of falling. I really have no idea.

What would you suggest for a beginner?
I basically want to be a bit faster than walking but without a bike. :)

Kick Scooter 14
Skateboard 14
other (please explain) 7

I had my car break down in college. Took a month and a half to fix. First thing I did was walk to Walmart and buy a push scooter. I never had any real problems with it, no learning curve, and it cut my time in half. Between the offsite bus I had to take from the remote parking lot and just general traffic my scooter ended up being faster then my car (average car ride was 15 min + 20 min waiting on/riding on the bus, average scooter was 25 min). I only stopped with the scooter once it got too cold. I will tell you though, if exorcise is what your after, your better off with a bike. That constant pedaling would tone your ass and thighs like nothing else.

If you work on Wall Street, I'd suggest the skateboard.

I always see tourists on scooters where I live. I think they look silly

Scooter. A friend of mine has one and uses it to get around. He also uses it to tease me that my city fuel consumption is higher than his XD

I think the best thing is a car. I wouldn't give up on my W203 Mercedes for a Veyron!

  • I'd really like those really small skateboards, but they are more stable if they're bigger, right?

It seems more professional for an investment in a car

    • I would really like the exercise, and it's only 2 kilometers!

Also, the traffic is terrible so I'd be looking at all those loosers stuck in traffic trapped in their cars as I go by :)

That's a hard one. There are these long boards there basically cruiser skateboards with big wheels but then again you'd look like a girlie-fag if you chose the scooter. It all depends on the smoothness' of the terrain if your getting a long board

I'd use the sidewalk and it will have bumps.

I don't care much about looking funny...
      also, I'm a girl.
