While a friend is telling me a story about something that happened to them, I will repeatedly attempt to guess what happens next and make absurd predictions when I do. I do it when I'm genuinely enthused about their story. Not everyone appreciates it.
I compulsively do nice things for people anonymously because it makes me feel so uncomfortable and embarrassed when they try to thank me.
I'll leave typed, inspirational notes for people in places I know they'll look. I'll leave money, gifts, giftcards, pay for people's food in a drivethru, stuff like that, just whatever I've noticed the person needs/enjoys.
Once when I was in college, I had this amazing instructor who was just having a really bad month, like her life was just shitting on her. So I typed this page long note and left it in her mailbox. She came to class the next day, with a boombox (I kid you not) playing "dont worry be happy" and smiling and laughing. She took like ten minutes out of class to talk about this amazing note she got and how it's changed her life. And I'm sitting there intentionally looking just as inspired and clueless as the rest of the class.
I've done this a few times to people. It feels so amazing to know they'll never know it was me, just that someone out there cares and loves them.
I always try to find a method to the madness. If something bad happens, I try to justify it by making sense of it. I also like to play with chance - I flip through certain books to a random page that hopefully will relate to my life or something I'm thinking about; I haven't done this in a while, but I used to flip through the radio to see if the song I landed on l would apply to any of my circumstances... Although I don't actively seek meaningful coincidences as much anymore, it's become a habit for me to pay special attention to things that most people normally wouldn't, such as number sequences, patterns of human behavior and experiences, songs that play at a certain moment, particular content being taught in a class, etc,. I intertwine all these things...
I sing that "pure imagination" song from willy wonka most of the time when I'm alone.
Oh, I am apparently the mayor of backwardness. For instance, I... struggle to give gifts to people in person. haha. So I hide the gift in their home, leave it on their pillow, in their car, or outside their apartment door (which was dumb and just one time because someone stole it). Doesn't matter if I'm convinced that someone will love the gift. In fact if they'll love it that's all the more reason to not give it in person. I won't freak out if I give it in person but, it makes me uncomfy and I prefer it this way. I have no idea why =/
Okay the next gift I give I will force myself to give it in person. I'll just say "OMFG lookit that squirrel is on fire." Then sucker punch the person, knocking them out, then gently place the gift on their stomach and walk away.
I carry rocks in my pockets.
I sometimes pull out the hair on the nape of my neck.
I sing while riding my bike.
I ride my bike really really slow. Joggers often pass me.
Uuum, I don't really know, I often catch myself holding my breath, to the point where I can start to feel lightheaded, I can be watching tv, reading and I find myself doing it, occasionally mid jog which fucks things up
I love to smell my armpit by spreading the smell on my finger like brush and shoving it on my nose when bored or alone. Ok, it's gross.
I stare at my mirror far too much. Sometimes it can go on for a full hour.
I like to lower my window and practice my opera singing while driving.
I stand on the toilet instead of sit on it when I take a dump.
I walk in circles around my kitchen table and talk to myself while I drink my morning coffee.
I routinely buy cans of herring steaks and take only 1 bite from each.
I have to sit on the right side of the car... but yellow school buses, now thats a whole other thing.
