She doesn't want me to volunteer here for this reason? iin?

I plan to enroll in college (most likely Junior College and then transfer to a four year college) in the fall of this year.

I was talking to a relative who was telling me that it would be a good idea if I were to see if I could volunteer at the zoo so, I that I could get some experience in.

I thought it was a wonderful idea and suggested this place, that's not far from where I live, that specialises in one of the things that I want to get a degree in. It's not a zoo.

She panicked and told me that I shouldn't go there because: 1. It was too secluded and 2. It was full of "crazy" white people.

This hurt me deeply since, I'm part white. I've been to this place twice before, one time with her, and we were never treated badly. The people never acted like they were crazy.

She would rather me go way out into the city to volunteer at the zoo, even though she has always maintained that the city was too dangerous.

I talked to my mother about this and she was speechless. She said that this place would be perfect for me.
