Should babies be allowed in movie theaters?

Many times, I've been trying to enjoy a movie when suddenly a baby starts crying in the theater. It is very dumb of the parent to bring them in when they know they can make a loud distracting sound such as that anytime. Do you think they should be allowed to be brought in?

No, it's selfish, inconsiderate and verging on the anti-social to bring an infant or very young child into a movie theatre. It's virtually certain that the kid isn't going to enjoy the experience, and if a young child is unhappy, then everyone around it is going to hear about it. And, considering how damn loud some movies and theatre sound systems are these days, you could argue that it's actually a child-endangerment issue, since very young ears are delicate things.

Way too many parents seem to believe that they can have a child and then virtually immediately get back to doing everything they did before the arrival of their sprog. That's just stupid, and if they don't like it, then they have nobody but themselves to blame for having made a decision with life-long ramifications without properly researching it beforehand.

(I'm a parent, and I've always really liked kids, but there are some places they don't belong.)

To be honest I think there's many places where they shouldn't be allowed... 😅 Bit of an unpopular opinion but yeah. I've for the longest time wished they had a space on public transport with soundproofed walls behind which people with babies have to sit, no joke, though it's (probably) impossible to do as in it would take too much expensive effort. Whenever someone makes suggestions like this publically it causes uproar amongst parents of toddlers.
And when it comes to movie theaters specifically, well it's really dumb to bring a toddler in there, they can't even watch and appreciate the movie so what's the point. I guess it's only because it's not always possible to get babysitters but I don't know if I would wanna bring a baby to a movie myself, I mean it would interrupt the movie for me too if the baby started crying hence ruining the movie...I'd wait until I had a babysitter or stream the movie in the future instead.

I totally agree and parents who get triggered by that are oversensitive...

I was at an orchestra concert once. An Amateur orchestra. My sister was in it. In between songs, a baby was crying, and the mother didn't take him/her out of the theater. So the conductor just stood there. He wouldn't start the next piece until they left.

No. Except if the film is aimed at under-7s. Animated disney films are (alas) a grey area.

    Personally, no.

I think the volume in theaters alone is damaging to a baby. Plus it's a baby it's not going to comprehend what's being put in front of it.

No, they shouldn't be allowed. Babies obviously can't appreciate movies and don't sit quietly watching, so it's very dumb to bring them there. If I come to a movie theater and pay to watch something I don't wanna hear your kid screaming or crying - that's not what I paid for.

    I thought this wasn't allowed?

When I had my babies we used to go to special baby friendly showings. They were usually on week day mornings.

Although I would say that if you happen to be seeing a film aimed at young children then you should expect a certain amount of disruption from them.

I think they should be allowed because many times they’ll sleep right through it. That being said, the parents should have the common courtesy to remove their crying baby so as not to disturb others. But courtesy isn’t that common these days.

Ever notice the holes in theater trash cans are always baby sized?

They shouldn’t be allowed anywhere that requires quiet.

The biggest issue I have with your question is that there are a lot of babies walking around in adult bodies...

How do you keep those out?

Tom Segura had a good bit about this.

Back in the day theatres would have sound proof “cry rooms” for mothers to take loud distressed infants and children.

Should background checks be removed from gun purchases? Should the police be abolished? Should Facebook keep being a twat? Should proessts stop raping little boys causing them to become priests and rape other little boys creating a vicious cycle of gay sex? These are all obvious awnsers. Just like yours.
