Awe 💕 You are so cute. (I mean that in a non-creepy way haha)
In America you do not have to stand for the pledge of Allegiance. Do what you want. Good luck next year. Have fun!
Also you speak English really well for someone who is still learning. I could never be able to learn Russian lol.

    Personally I don't really care.

Most people would probably appreciate it if you stand for the Pledge of Allegiance (as a sign of respect), but I wouldn't recommend reciting unless you really mean it. It's enough of a thoughtless propaganda exercise as it is, without trying to force exchange students into it.

Think of it like if a king happened to pass by: nobody expects you to bow, but it would be rude to be chatting on your cell phone.

It's just respectful to do so I would if I were you and besides that people might think you're an assholes if you sit out and might not make too many friends starting out that way

When in Rome, Bucko do as the Romans do. Google it. And then say the pledge.

When you are in the United States, you MUST obey United States laws, regardless of citizenship. No exceptions.

There's no law says you have to stand for the flag. Only etiquette.

Well I hate to say this but etiquette =respect. Foreigners are not entitled to disrespect another countries mannerisms. No other country in the world would let an individual do that other than the United States. Respect is earned not given and that goes for everybody.

No they shouldn't He/she is Russian. Just because they study here doesn't mean they are American. That's ridiculous.
