No, and I can't believe this is an actual proposal!

I'm not surprised. Same people with this position is alright with electric cars that are mostly powered by coal, use way more rare earth metals mined from the 3rd world, and take 10 years to make its carbon footprint neutral.

You can still be green and like fossils fuels. It's called being realistic, rather than idealistic.

Yeah, now that you mention it, it isn't that surprising. Completely agreed that it's important to be realistic rather than idealistic, too.

I get why people dont like coal. They think it's still the 18th century, if you actually walk around a coal power plant you can see they have dust traps that capture 99% of the exhaust. Fossil fuels are great when you need energy right that moment. We simply do not have the battery capacity to make green energy more cost efficent then renewables.

Heck for my homestead I want it to be near a running river or creek so I can utilize a relatively tiny hydroelectric generator to power my homestead, to not remove myself from the grid but if need be can.

I just dont like ground water pollution. We all take from that source.

No, when the power goes out there’s nothing I’m more grateful for.

We need to stop banning everything

should they be banned in favor of electric stoves whose electricity is provided by a natural gas plant?

Almost 50% coal powered in the USA i think. Which is even dirtier.

We need additional lines, like a pig slop line that pumps nutritious paste into every home. Denying food to families is an egregious human rights violation.

I think gas stoves are a pretty american thing. They do not seem safe to me.

I mean it's an open flame. So its inherently dangerous. But it is cheaper than wood, better for the environment. Great for rual areas and camping. All that energy stored within convenient tanks.

they use them in germany too. hence why Merkel decided to sell her country's soul to Russia for cheap natural gas

I mean it's pretty retarded to rely on an enemy for your resources.

Why? Electric is less energy efficent.

It depends on where you live and where your wall power comes from - if you are in coal country, it can well be the case that the power from the wall is dirtier than burning the natural gas; but the solution there is to get better energy sources, *then* consider eliminating other fossil fuels.

But in general "Ban gas stoves" is dumb, and nobody is suggesting it, including the Biden administration. This is propaganda. https://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/fact-focus-biden-administration-banning-gas-stoves-96405196

NO! They should ban metallic gas cylinders instead. Transparent gas cylinders should be a thing.

Banning will only increase demand. The real way to slow gas cooker usage is to pass an obscure piece of legislation that makes them very expensive to make, or to pull some strings and get the gas prices inflated, then pull some other strings so that the company behind an electrical appliance that does the same job as a gas cooker finds that all of the doors of the business world are suddenly wide open to them - then let the free market do its thing.

Maybe the greatest success would be had with a cheaper appliance that people could be persuaded to use as a money-saving 'stopgap' trend in the short term, until habits change in an enduring way. Air fryer, anyone?

This is NOT a prelude to a conspiracy theory.

Gas stoves shouldn't be banned, I think gas is here to stay, when the shit hits the fan you'll run out of gas.

Gas as in petroleum or gas as in methane/propane?

      • normal-rebellious

Probably methane, but I suppose a buffalo chicken wing cooks nicely on a gas stove, as long as you dip it in buffalo ranch sauce that's all that matters, but it's not the only thing that's all that matters, all that matters to me is having square meals of chips and salad, hopefully with balsamic dressing, and spicy red sauce or smokey barbeque sauce to dip the chips, or fish, chips and salad and tartare sauce for the fish, provided I can taste the tartare sauce, gas stoves are good for that, but to save gas I'd rather use the air fryer, putting cheese on my vegetables and that'll be that.

Not the OP...But yes, the Biden Administration is considering banning gas stoves in homes as a way of pushing their green agenda and they are claiming gas stoves are linked to "serious health conditions like cancer and childhood asthma".

      Bunch of bullshit.

Yeah ban gas stoves for being unhealthy but let's continue fluoridating the water supply with 7000 times more fluoride than you need despite research indicating potential health risk
        Retards

The asthma may be an issue, but I think using it to push their agenda is bull. forget about all the health and eco issues and think about the average American. not very bright right? when you use a gas stove and want to turn off the flame, you literally turn a knob and the flame goes out. End of discussion. Want to turn off the electric stove? press a button and you have to wait for the coil pad to de heat and discharge the electricity leaving a hot surface for animals, children, and retards to accidentally touch and get seriously burned.

E-stoves also have a tendency to burn foods as its still hot even when off.

        Biden is truly amazing.
