Should i give up knickers

Since going through the menopause I have suffered with terrible itching, I’ve seen the doctor and the gynaecologist, tried all different creams and lotions, antihistamines, etc cotton underwear, but nothing seems to work for any length of time. It’s embarrassing, a constant annoyance, ruining my sex life with my husband and makes me moody and irritated most of the time. My husband is very understanding but I think his patients is wearing thin as he wants a normal sex life with me and it’s what I want as well. A few months ago he found an article on the internet suggesting that for women with my particular complaint limiting the use of underwear or giving it up completely to allow air flow could resolve the issue. I was not comfortable with the idea and told him no way but in the end I gave in to his nagging and agreed to try it when we were on holiday for 2 weeks. Unbelievably within a few days I was itch free and remained so for the rest of the holiday it was wonderful. Back home and back to work the knickers went back on and 2 days later the itching was back, and with it so were my irritable moods. My husband started nagging again about not wearing knickers, I agreed in the end not to except for work. This helped a bit as things would ease up over the weekend but by midweek things were bad again. Eventually I plucked up the courage to go for it at work, partly under pressure from my husband and partly through my own despair. I was terrified people would know and felt embarrassed about it and very nervous but the itching went away again after a few days and it was heaven, I spent the rest of the summer this way and I am so much more relaxed and having great sex with my husband. I still feel nervous at work but I just deal with it as best I can. The problem is I live in the UK and the winter is coming in I want to wear knickers and tights for warmth but my husband is pressuring me not to. He says I should wear stockings or hold ups and no knickers. I know he’s probably right but I feel embarrassed that people will see my stocking tops. I can’t wear longer skirts as I wear a uniform for work. I don’t know what to do I threw away all my underwear so I couldn’t have a last minute panic and grab some to wear to work but now I keep wondering if I should go and buy a pack of knickers and some tights and just wear them!!
