Should i quit?

My boss uses me as a "scapegoat" for blame in order to teach lessons to his other employees. I can take it, rather im disciplined enough to know the "purpose" of it but seriously, its starting to bother me like a lot.

Im experienced, and a do a solid job whether im happy or not, tired or not - but im sick of being treated like im a fucking idiot who needs to be told on like a fucking pet every other second and treated with respect only whenever he feels like it.

He hired me out of desperation. I dont hate him for it but i didnt (and now i really dont) like the fact that he took advantage of my generosity out of that desperation.

Actually i already decided to quit, i just havent given notice yet. Im thinking about giving one months notice in order to be fair (another coworker is leaving) but i'd rather just give the normal 2 weeks.

Be fair. 3
Fuck It. 10

Life is too short to put up with that crap, if you have other options.

I was going ask... do you have another job lined up? Unless you've thought these questions already, or your job isn't that critical to your living. Because I've known people to quit without another job lined up or no plan and they get in a rut, not only because it's harder to get a job when you're unemployed, but because they get lazy.

Give the default 2 weeks notice, you can "offer" 1 month as a courtesy. But unless a company was really short-handed no employer would prefer a 1 month notice. Already they know an employee who's given their notice would be less motivated/productive anyway, so why prolong it?

    • As it is we are shorthanded so a month's notice is extremely, polite. I happen to be demotivated at work already but ive maintained my high standards for work despite that. Thanks for you input, means a lot to me as a user in this community.

No one should work in a hostile work enviroment as such your sentiments on quiting are substantiated...but,of equaly if not more importance OP do you have another job lined up...does it pay better. As i'm not in your shoes i cannot definitively say which direction you should take but i would suggest you weigh your options clinicaly first.

    • I dont have a job lined up and im forced to take a gamble here. In my line of work employment is based upon immediacy so in order for me to be able to find a new job i need to make sure im not leaving my current employer shorthanded. As it turns out i've put in my notice but theres no exact date, its still "up in the air". As soon as we can get a new employee on board im going to set a date and hope for the hope, lol.

So you prefer to run away from your problems instead of confronting them

I would say find another option first , Once hired somewhere else I just wouldn't even give my notice . I would probably fuck his wife too .

Get another job first. But in the meantime make a journal of everything and who was a witness to the abuse. Then when you do quit, sue him, personally, and the company for making a hostile workplace. They made life so miserable that you were forced to quit. Get some money and you will feel better for exposing them for the tyrants that they are.

    • That is certainly an effective idea, but i just cant afford and dont want to deal with a lawsuit over it. His "hostility" towards me comes from his own personal experiences, he acts the way he does as a sort of defense mechanism and is quick to find blame and solution before examining a problem from multiple perspectives first. Sure i could bring this to his attention and i did, he ended up getting offended without saying so and made sure i knew that i was speaking out of line.

All in all he's a shitty boss and while i could through him a lifesaver, he needs to learn how to swim. Hopefully he will be a better boss for it.

Most if not all Attorneys will take the case and you only pay if you win. If what you say really happens and you are not the preverbal "tit on a bull useless" and deserve the crap, then I say go for it. Even if you do not win, you make it very hard on your boss and the company will reevaluate his usefulness to the operation. He will still be trashed in the end.
