Should i skip class if i know i'm going to be really late anyway?

I'm a senior in college and I'm usually on time in class. If I'm late, it's by five or ten minutes at the very most.

Sometimes, I'm struggling to finish an assignment before class starts or the printer isn't working, and I'd be 30 minutes late.

This has happened once a semester, and I ONLY do this when there's an assignment due. If I knew I was going to be that late in any other class, I wouldn't even bother to show up.

But the last time this happened, I got called out my the professor, pretty harshly, for showing up 30 minutes late. I wouldn't have been so pissed if that wasn't the first time I was that late to particular class. I was so mad, that I felt like I wasted my time for coming to class at all, even if there was a huge assignment due.

Like I said, if I know I'm going to be at least 20 minutes late to a class, I just don't show up. The only exception is if there's an assignment due.

What do you guys think? Should I show up to class >20 or 30 min late and still learn what's being taught in class? Or should I just skip class altogether?

If you're going to be more than 20 min late, don't attend class 128
If you're going to be late period, don't show up 9
ALWAYS attend class, no matter how late you are! 88

Better late than never, is the saying. However, lecturers don't understand this concept and if you find that its better staying out of a particular class to avoid the drama, I don't blame you. I always try and be early so when I am late, they understand.

How about you arrive ON TIME to all of your classes and complete/print out your assignments BEFORE the due date. Also, the professor has every right to call you out for being late to his/her class and even more so considering that you've been late more than once. You, on the other hand, have no right to be pissed due to your own disrespectful behavior. Grow up and stop being so self-centered.

Better managed your time. Try to do your assignments earlier. If you know that your printer tends to take a long time with copying, print your assignment a few hours before that class begins. While you wait, get ready and eat. This way, by the time your printer is done printing, you'll be ready to walk out of the door with enough time to reach your classes on time.

    How long are your classes?

    • Some are two days a week for an hour and fifteen minutes, others can be up to three hours. If I'm going to be more than 20 minutes late to an hour and fifteen minute class, I don't bother showing up. If I'm that late to a once a week, 3 hour long class, I try to show up. However, it's very rare that I'm ever that late.

Well, in that case, you would be missing at most 55 minutes of class time (in a 1hour 15min class). That's a lot of information you'd missing that could potentially be important.

The only way that not going would be the more logical option is if there's only like, 15 minutes left or something. I'd risk getting yelled at for knowledge - but if you don't think the class will be that vital, then it'd be understandable.
