Should it matter what you wear to church?

Do you always have to dress nicely to church? Would you rather wear your every day clothes if you hate fancy clothing?

Yes, I always wear my dress clothes to church. It's an important day. 6

I don't like wearing fancy clothes, but I think if I went to church I would do it. You should do what makes you feel best, and I think a lot of people like the ritual of dressing up before going to church.

I just wore jeans and shirt like always. Some people would dress up to some degree, but most of us were just casual. But it was a highschool/uni aged group.

I don't see much need for body armour in church, but my AK, a cross chest pair of bandoliers, half a dozen grenades and a couple of hand guns (with plenty of spare clips), are certainly the proper attire for defending oneself against the onslaught of brainwashing that is sure to come. I'd eliminate the preacher first and the choir next, leaving the parishioners for last, as the most challenging and exciting event of the day.
Ah, I always look forward to going to a church.

It is not necessary to wear fancy or expensive clothing to church--Just wear something that does not disrespect the house of God or other normal people's sensibilities--I would think almost 99 of things one owns could be worn to church

In my time at church, I did not dress up. I frankly didn't participate in the prayer, worship, etc. I went mostly out of a courtesy to my grandmother who had nobody else to go with her. That doesn't mean I abandoned my gods and submitted to the church environment. This includes dressing up.

Atheist of Jewish background...but going to Sunday School as a kid, everyone dressed up. I liked being dressed up, because you can go to a fancy restaurant or the theater afterwards without having to change. Make a day of it.

I don't think there's a dress code. But then again, I've only been inside a church twice. Surprisingly, I did not burst into flames.
