Yes obviously things that directly violate other peoples rights are illegal but beyond directing violating other peoples rights freedom of speech should have no buts. The ONLY reason a government wouldn't give it's citizens free speech is because they want to do shady crap without the citizens being able to call them out on it. Freedom of speech is THE most important right without it you end up with a tyrannical government that arrests people over memes like Scotland.

It's a complex political conundrum we are in. At the end of the day, I like what hand we were given tactically. We have allies that have far more motivation to kill their enemies than the Afghans people.

Sure ukraine is corrupt... and? Not saying its optimal that they are corrupt. Its just that they are useful for killing russians. Something that we cant do without triggering ww3. Russia is flinging the word nukes around as much as they are flying the word nazis. So far I see no practical reason why Putin would do so. If they nuked Ukraine there would be 2 different outcomes and neither of them include nuke usage on our side because nukes arent the most powerful weapon. Economics and political power. Russia takes the plunge, any country that was neutral on this matter either has to side 100% on the sanctions or risk being sanctioned themselves. And/or nato fully invades ukraine kicking russias asses out but not invading Russia and sending them decades behind the world economy. Cant build modern tanks without modern resources and capital, something that Russia cannot do, they couldnt pull it off in the Soviet era and they cant do it in the modern age.
China would be forced to sanction their ally to not be sanctioned and have hundreds of thousands of starving peasants. China might be corrupt as all hell but 3 missed meals is all it will take to stand in front of a tank again.
