Should "obamacare" cover pets?

I heard an interesting idea from a friend of mine and I don't know how to feel about it. I'd like to hear anyone's opinion. Should "Obamacare" or The Affordable Care Act cover pets?

    Well countries with universal care don't cover pets. But they do provide "free" sterilisation on pets in some jurisdictions by discounting registration costs or discounted veterinarian costs.

    Spent 800 dollars on a surgery. Cat still died. It wasn't worth it then, so it's not worth my tax dollars.

    America is already in such a recession. Pets are not an essential part of a family. If one can't handle one, they shouldn't get one. Putting "petcare" would simply tax the economy further.

    Only if only pet owners paid. Otherwise non pet owners would be paying for other peoples vet bills. Even as a pet owner it still seems pointless though.
