Should students who score proficient on state testing be in se?

SE(Special Ed). Should student have to score Advanced on state testing to be mainstream? Are mainstream classes learning at an advanced level? From my understanding anyone who didn't get Advanced on State testing was mentally retarded but is that true?

I thought Dubya's 'no child left behind' bullshit put all students in SE. In that system, SE is advanced learning.
What does the title of the class matter anyway, because you no longer have an educational system available to you, merely a state run babysitting system. Thank gawd you have the internet and can learn whatever you need to through your own devices, yet get that worthless piece of paper called a diploma, anyway.

You know most of the people in SE are there for social reasons right? I don't understand why people say special kids are retarded. Have you ever actually talked to one?

    • Not really. They learn about 4 grades below the normal classes. So I dont see how that has to do with social skills. If you are socially retarded that does not mean you are mentally. I hung out with the nerds too and they are generally kind of corky and socially awkward. So you cant say social problems equals low IQ. It just is not so.

Um, I didn't say that kids with social problems equals low IQ, rather I said that most kids in special classes have a high IQ. Did you even read what I said?

Also "socially retarded" ? I think you have a low IQ .-.

        • So if your assumption was the kids in remedial have high IQ why would you teach them 4 grades below reading level. As well as that why are some of them SEVERELY RETARDED? I mean severe mental retardation. If you ever met one its not hard to tell.

Alright you are not smart so I will explain this to you. Some people dont have very good social skills and are socially awkward. Some people have great social interaction skills.

There is different type of skills that people have and I know you assume everyone intelligent is going to have GREAT ONES but that is not the case. Now stereotypes are not 100 percent true but really there is a reason nerds are known for being socially awkward.

You can have great social skills it does not mean you are highly intelligent.

Again, you still didn't read my first comment. I said nothing about social skills being related to high intelligence. While it is a learning disability, dislexia has little to no coronation with someone's IQ, and so, accommodations must be made. We know from this that people maybe smart in other areas, and at the same time not be an 'on-par' reader; such as yourself, which is likely why you keep mentioning it, and continue to fail to read both my previous comments as well as those of other users.
