Should this happen after seeing a chiropractor?

So I had a lower back strain due to inappropriate lifting at work. I went to the doctor, and he did not recommend me to a Chiro, but instead said "whatever you feel like you have to do" after I suggested it. In fact, an 'ex' friend strongly encouraged that I go to a Chiro to help my back heal.... Yeah.

So. My back injury happened mid October, so I stated going to a Chiro three times a week for the last week of October, all of November, and for 2 weeks in December. So that is a total of 21 times seeing a Chiropractor.

In the middle of December I ran out of money... So I abruptly stopped going.

In the middle of January, my upper back felt really stiff, like it NEEDED to be cracked. My neck also seems to stiffen up, and then no matter how I turn it it POPS very painfully.

I went back to the Chiro at the end of January and have went back three times, once a week for three weeks.

It is now February 12th, and I REFUSE to go back to the Chiropractor because
1. My neck and back are NOT getting better
2. My neck still painfully pops
3. I now think that chiros are quacks
4. I think I am permanently injured
and
5. ...I ran out of money again :T

Is it normal that my back and neck problems should happen after seeing a Chiropractor?? Also, if you will please, in the comment section, could you tell me if you think that my back will heal itself in time? I'm going to be going to the doctor next month so I will tell him about all of this. I just wanted to post this here because I'm not getting any answers anywhere else

My father was an orthopedic surgeon and he was very much against chiropractors. He thought they relieved the pain but solved nothing, which meant people had to keep going back for relief.
There are a lot of people who swear by chiropractors, but every one I've met keeps going back for pain relief, rather than getting cured, so I guess he was right.
You might want to see a real doctor, a specialist, and get your problem solved.

I see. Thank you kindly for your advice!

Yes. I've heard that people swear by it. I listened to one of them who did. I wish I wouldn't have been so stupid and looked up the risks rather tan just taking my exfruends advice...

I'll go to my doctor if it doesn't get better in March when I have money. If it gets worse I'll go sooner. He'll probably tell me to go to a specialist

I'm mostly convinced that seeing a chiro three times a week for a few months is what ended up making my disc herniate. I'd never see one ever again. I see an osteopath instead - it's similar but there is a greater focus on getting you to a point of self management tbat chiropractic never seemed to have.

I see... And that sounds so terrible! I hope your back is better now. Back problems Do really suck.

I will do that. It's probably the kind of doctor my doctor would recommend. My doctor is good at recommending other doctors. Lol

Well it was five years ago and I still have issues...but it's bearable 90% of the time.

Sounds like you need a CT or MRI scan to see what's going on in there.

Stretching and strengthening exercises are what you need. Save your money.

Wow. 21 visits and you still have back pain. I'd be asking for a refund.

Not only that, but the Chiropractor can now afford gold-plated faucets on his jacuzzi instead of just silver...
