Snoring cats?

Hi, I have an older cat named Darbey and for as long as I can remember, she has snored! We are close and she loves sleeping in my room, but the snores are loud enough to hear a room away (if its quiet). I have actually found it soothing now, but I'm just worried if its normal. Do I need to take her to the vet? =^..^=

Yup! I've had cats all my life and a few have snored. One time we had three cats and all were parked on our bed. One was asleep and snoring and the other two were just looking at him and then at each other. It was too funny! No worries!!!

What breed is the cat? Smooshed faced cats (and dogs) are more likely to snore.

My dogs have always snored lightly. What's funny is when they're having a dream and they bark in their dream but their mouth doesn't open in reality and you get this strange muffled woof.

I can't see that it's something to bother a vet with but, if it sets your mind at rest, you can always ask the vet next time you are making a routine visit and (s)he can check your cat's airways, etc.

  • Cats do snore, my late cat did and my two new ones make snoring noises, it's normal.

As long as her breathing is normal and she's not making any out of the ordinary noises when she's awake, I'd say Darbey is just fine. :)

You have to open up it's mouth to prevent it from suffocating. I would talk to your vet to get a mouth opener so that it's mouth stays open when it sleeps

Shave the fur off and sell it to a poor Asian nation.
