Some dog lovers are making me dislike dogs

Please note the emphasis on the word "SOME". I am 100% aware that most aren't like this, so if you're not like what I am describing, I am not referring to you. I'm talking about a fairly vocal minority.

Personally, I have never had anything against dogs and I don't. However, because of how vicious and ridiculous many dog lovers have gotten, I am beginning to dislike dogs. Not really dislike, but the feeling you get towards a franchise when you see rabid fanboys going overboard.

I am not talking about people who like dogs more than people. I am not talking about the people who are infuriated by and hate dog abusers in general. That is understandable and I do not blame those who are like the above. I am talking about how many dog lovers overdo it and turn vicious like militant Jihadists.

I see so many dog lovers becoming so vicious, hateful and illogical. I mean I hear people in North Korea getting torture-murdered by being eaten alive by dogs and all the commentators were worried about were that the dogs were hungry. Then when I asked about getting eczema from dog fur there was a guy who started getting defensive and started blaming humanity for it. I've seen people saying how they would prefer if people in starving countries would eat each other instead of eating dogs. I've also seen utter ignorance and hate in combination: There were even people celebrating the Japan tsunami because of some dog meat that happens in some parts of the East, when the Japanese don't even eat dogs and in the countries that actually do usually only a minority does it. A lot of the time when I see such racism and other hate it gets more support than criticism simply because it's about dogs (when it's about most other issues there are usually "don't be racist" replies but when it's about dogs I tend to see people priding themselves as racist). Yet a lot of the time when such viciousness and hate is addressed the community just lashes back saying stuff along the lines of "Why does it matter it helps dogs who cares about the consequences?".

Now don't get me wrong: I do NOT hate dogs at all. Not once in my life have I made a dog suffer (and I hope I never do), and if I had a kid that tortured a dog (or any other sentient animal) I'd give him a caning. However, because of the dog lover community online, I am starting to view dogs in a similar irritation to how people view Justin Bieber because of his rabid Belieber fanbase or how some atheists view Christianity after seeing extremist Jesus freaks (i.e. good religion having its reputation ruined by some).

Is it normal to be this way?

    Some people love their dogs more than they love their children and it creeps me out....

    You're absolutely right! The problem with most of these people is that they have been indirectly banished from social interactions with human beings for various reasons, mostly because of their shitty behavior. So they turn to animals, especially dogs, who will love them unconditionally and, ultimately won't have requirements in order to tolerate and accept their presence, as opposed to humans, who are more judgmental and selective. Dogs usually get attached indiscriminately and unconditionally to their owner regardless if the owner is a saint or a filthy piece of shit. People who are insecure,self centered or egotistical choose dogs as a pet because dogs are incapable of distinguishing and recognizing the evil in some of these stupid fucks, so the stupid fucks view the animal as an emotional refuge from judgement and critic coming from other humans.

    I hate the people who treat each dog like a god that can do no wrong, or like a fragile ornament to be treated with utmost care. I love dogs, but they can be assholes, and aren't made of glass. Also I hate when people change their voice whilst talking to a dog. Why was this ever thought to be a good idea?

    Same! I've seen what you're talking about, it's so annoying. The same kind of people that if you go to ANY animal video, they will find some way to say it's animal abuse. The kind of people that are basically misanthropes and use the excuse that "dogs are better" (which I realise is a common sentiment these days, but come on, you can't honestly think that an animal that eats is own poop is better than the world's innovators and people who work towards peace etc). They are the kind of people that need something to do whatever they tell it, so they tell dogs to love them because no one else would. I've seen videos of stray dogs attacking children and someone hits the dogs to get them away, then the comments would say things like they would've rather seen the kid get mauled. those kind of "dog lovers" are pretty much sociopaths.

      I wouldn't necessarily say "ANY animal video". I was really disturbed at how many uprates some people got on YouTube when they bragged about torturing a rat to death.

        Oh, that's true.. that's the other side... people seem pretty ok with killing rodents :/
        like on nature videos I've found for the sounds of raccoons, squirrels etc. would have people saying what kind of guns they use against them, and it gets lots of upvotes :(

    I hate them with a passion. Those "dog lovers" are fucking nuts. It's totally strange how obsessed and blind they are about dogs that despite knowing all those untold numbers of unprovoked attack cases to both children and elderly they still defend those aggressive animals. Seems like those lunatics worship the damn beasts. Wouldn't be surprised if they also have sex with them.

    Because those dog lovers are animals also, they can't think logically, there is a minority of dog lovers who support killing dogs in self defense, but majority of them do not support killing dogs in self defense, because dogs are gods and cannot be harmed even dogs attacks humans unlawfully in their opinion just like what u said, so i hate dog lovers, put them behind bars, and all peta workers should be beheaded

    No, of course this is not normal. It's nothing to do with the matter at hand. If you truly liked something, others' influence wouldn't taint your enjoyment.
