Some older fellows

Some older fellows at work were calling another guy a weirdo because he was 40 and his "girlfriend" was about 18. They say its creepy and weird and it seems almost gay to me that they pretend legal adult women that are attractive are not attractive. Maybe having a daughter changes your outlook. I do not have a daughter so idk. But it seems so weird when they say "shes my daughters age thats sick". Its not like every girl is your daughter. Just because your wife is your sisters age doesnt mean your wife isnt hot.

How does denying their attraction to some women make them gay? The only thing that makes a man gay is being exclusively sexually attracted to other men.

I strongly suspect that what you've observed is some guys covering their jealousy in more socially acceptable garb.

If you want to get all Freudian about this, it's possible that what's actually going on is that at least some of those guys are covertly sexually attracted to their daughters, and this means they feel a need to loudly protest that no guy their age should be interested in a woman that young. It's kinda like how it's a proven fact that the noisiest homophobic guys tend to be sexually attracted to men; part of their denial mechanism is being very loud about how disgusting gay guys are.

It is a large age gap and I have to wonder just how much a guy of 40 and a woman of 18 have in common. But really, that's their business. People who get all judgmental about other people's relationships when the people in question appear to be happy together need to get a freaking life.

Completely agree, Boojum. They're just jealous and are trying to shame him because of that.

It depends what they're saying. I question why on earth a 40 year old would be in a relationship with an 18 year old. She is basically a child compared to him, and these kinds of relationships do sometimes occur when the older person wants to have control over their partner, so they choose someone who isn't on their level. Nobody their own age wants to be with them. However, this isn't always the case.

From what you have said if sounds as if they are mostly focusing on the physical side of things, which does seem a bit sus. Youth is generally considered to be attractive. 18 is an adult. All of my concerns around big age gap relationships are focused on maturity and life experiences. It has sweet fuck all to do with physical appearance. Young adults tend to look fantastic. It's just how humans work. It's very odd that they are pretending she isn't attractive. It seems as though they have entirely missed the point. Be cautious of them.

While it may not be the accepted norm, as long as its not their daughters, who really cares who is with who, every one of us has the right to be happy.

    • Hes one of those gym rats that looks like hes on steroids. He drives a nice truck. He's also pretty good looking so he gets a lot of girls. Always younger girls under 25.

        • Yeah realistically its probably abit of jealousy that they couldnt get girls like that at 40+.

I'm an older man (mid 60's) - and what I find creepy is the comments of the other older men.

I also think that Boojum is likely correct as to the reason.

It's only creepy if the guy knew her before she turned 18.
