Someone told me a weird story about the menstrual cycle. iin?

Hi.
Today, I was having this weird conversation with a close friend of mine about the Menstrual Cycle. He said when he was kid, he thought that when women got their periods, they had too much blood in their bodies, and the blood comes out; is just the excess amount being released from their bodies and it lowers the sugar levels. To me it sounds insane... right now i can't even generate what's going on in my mind...

(i'm a guy by the way)..

    Your friend is clearly an idiot. "Lower sugar levels"? Umm no. Everyone knows it is to lower IRON levels. Duh.

      Are you serious? Thinking menstruation is to lower iron levels is as stupid as thinking it's to lower sugar levels

          That's not correct either. How can so many people be so ignorant about the purpose of menstruation? It's the uterus shedding the lining it prepared for pregnancy because no egg was fertilised that month. In the case of regular bleeding in women on the contraceptive pill, it's a withdrawal bleed and not a true period at all.

    It's not unusual for children to be uninformed about it. Or for adult men. Or even some adult women. That's the really concerning one.

      What about women who insist on referring to their vulva as their vagina?

      A particularly ignorant subset of those are convinced that it doesn't matter. I guess they would also find it completely sensible to refer to their nose as their chin.

        Doesn't pretty much everyone do that though? I don't think I've ever heard the word vulva used in reality, but I've never come across an instance where it was necessary to refer to the whole thing.

    A friend once told me this story -
    Her nephews, when they were little kids, found some new pads under the sink and asked their mom what they were. The mom goes, They are really big band-aids".

    So at some point they accidentally scraped up their elbows or whatever and taped a pad over the area. They were just walking around like that thinking the pads were huge band aids.
