Something is wrong with my mac

So here is what happened. I was just editing a movie that had a lot of footage, that only cost 20 GB, and My Mac kept decreasing in Gigabytes. I tried to delete some things I don't use anymore, that didn't work. I tried to get a tool to clear all my junk files, that didn't work. I tried to scan for a virus, no virus. It was then I deleted my project from iMovie, and it finally went back to normal. It was around 90 Gigabytes before, and by the end of it, it went to 8. It just wouldn't stop decreasing for no reason. Is this normal?

    There are many possible causes for this problem. I don't believe you could fix it, though. It could be that the way the data is saved onto your computer before you add something new to it makes it look like it's less than it is. It could also be that your file is larger than it claims to be. It could also be that your laptop sees the amount of data you have left as 9 GB, even though there are actually more than that. What I'm saying is that one of those three numbers is probably wrong.

    Maybe, if you added a lot of things that would increase the save space it takes up

    You should be able to call technical support though, I think they can even access your computer (just like access to the screen and mouse so you would see what they're doing and when they leave) and they can look at what was going on
