Song memorization

When I listen to a new song, especially if it's a punk song or a fast paced one, I try to memorize the chord and or note progressions and lyrics, but I always forget. Like if it's a ast paced pop punk tune, I listen to the first part, then when the song skews to a new segment or what ever, I forget almost completely how the first part sounded, unless I listen a million times or listen to it again. I feel like everyone else has a much better memory. Is this normal?
