Sound tv hearing low frequency

Others I point this out to don't seem to notice so I wonder if it's normal to always know even without looking that a tv is turned on that is not showing a picture or playing any sound? Same with computer monitors? Some low frequency sound maybe?

Yep, i hear the same, others don't if i question them. It's just depends on the person, and how good their hearing is. :)

Thanks everyone glad to know others can hear this. And it's a higher frequency for sure didn't mean lower. We have a newer flat screen in the living room and to me its the same so could be electronics in general to some extent and not just the old tv's dunno.

Thank god I found this question! I have been hearing that sound a lot lately. And I have been around some older monitors lately.

  • Same here, the moment I walk into a room I can tell if the TV is on, even if it's muted.

You probably hear florescent lights too. Electromagnetic noise is very common. The absence of it is almost deafening.

yup. happens to me all the time. it depends on your sense of hearing though, usually people over thirty have lost the capability to hear it, but there are exceptions.

    That's normal. It's a rather high-frequency noise though...
