Started eating tons of fiber to try and clear bad constipation

Until yesterday, I was eating a diet with almost no fiber, I was eating a lot of sugar, white bread, doughnuts, candy, white pasta, and a lot of processed foods, and I suddenly realized yesterday that needs to change. I realized that I've been only taking a shit once, maybe twice a week, and even then it's a strain and I can't get much out. So I went to the store and bought high fiber whole wheat bread, wheat bran, and a ton of fruits and vegetables, food that I had hardly touched much for quite a while. I know that from what I've read, that a person who normally does not eat much fiber can have up to 15 pounds of shit backed up in their intestines. And only having to shit once a week is a sign of that too. It's not that I didn't know this before, it's that I wasn't thinking about it and wasn't really caring. But, I changed my frame of mind yesterday and bought all those high fiber foods I mentioned. So far, I know it's been not even 24 hours yet, but I still haven't been able to shit that much yet, even though I've felt like I have to, which means I'm still constipated. Does it take more than a day of high fiber eating to clear away that constipation, that 15 lbs of shit backed up in your intestines? Has any of you dealt with the same situation? If so, what did you do? Got any further advice for me?

You don't want to get leaky gut.

    • Isn't leaky gut where if you keep ignoring an ulcer, the tear is no longer just in the lining of your stomach, but the tear now goes all the way through your stomach to where stomach acids leak out of your stomach to other parts of your body and into your bloodstream? That can have fatal complications too, can't it?

Colon cancer will do the same thing. A tumor will block the passage of stool. But then it could be that you are not drinking enough water. Try an enema first.

    • Can you buy an enema at the store? I'm not sure because I've never had this problem before the present time and never needed to go look for one.

Now you are just being a effing troll. You can't be that clueless. Of course you can buy an enema at the store. You can get them at the grocery store, the drug store, Walmarts. Hell buy one online. I imagine that Amazon has them ao you can also buy one online. My local grocery store even delivers what you order online.

  • Good move changing your diet, but if you really have a lot of shit backed up, I'd recommend flushing it out by using castor oil as a natural laxative.

Still keep to your nice new diet afterwards, of course.

My friend had a situation very similar to yours. She ate a bunch a fiber and drank lots and lots of water, and she ate a lot of baby tomatoes, which may sound weird, but it worked for her after a day or so, but that's her. Maybe it would work for you?

    • I've been eating a lot of fiber and drinking a lot of water for almost two days now, and I still can hardly get anything to come out. I must have 20 pounds of shit backed up and lodged in my intestines, I'm getting concerned, it's starting to look like there may be something more serious going on. I've also read when enough body waste gets lodged in your intestines, it can start making your blood and other organs toxic, which also helps explain why I've been feeling lethargic with a sort of sick low energy feeling, and depressed. When I was younger, I always wondered why when someone was always run down and cranky, someone else would ask them "you getting enough fiber in your diet?", now I understand. But to my knowledge now, once your plumbing gets too backed up, suddenly consuming a lot of fiber and water won't be enough anymore. I'm making an appointment with gastrointestinal doctor. I could try an enema, I haven't tried that yet, can you buy those over the counter at the store?

I'm not exactly sure, sorry dude, I hope all goes well for you.

  • I am. You gotta drink a lot of water when eating a lot of fiber or else too much fiber could be counterproductive and get even more stuck inside your intestines, at least I think that's true.

    Maybe you have a blockage?

    • Would a lot of fiber and water be enough to clear a blockage? What about a colon cleanse?

I dunno, I'm not an expert. You should probably see a doctor.

But I am also feeling like I have to go, but I can't. A diet high in fiber and water I realize can help prevent constipation and a lot of backup, which is something I was completely not doing until two days ago. But I also am understanding that once your plumbing really gets backed up enough, a high fiber and water diet won't be enough anymore, I'm going to have to get medical treatment now. I haven't however, tried an enema yet, can you buy those over the counter?
