Starting to feel like the internet is mainly used by the mentally disabled

I started using the internet about 14 years ago. I have made a few friends along the way, was even thinking of meeting one of them. We were young when we first started talking and now that I am realizing what it takes to become an independent adult, this person seems to be lagging behind, still obsessed with meme culture and anonymous douchiness, despite being an adult.

I started to notice this mentality with A LOT of other adults who still use interactive sites like this. It's like they've lost touch with reality and despite being in the body of an adult, still throw tantrums and spend most of their lives acting like bitches online.

is it normal I feel like the internet especially anonymous interactive sites like this one are mainly used by the mentally challenged / man-children and the like?

    Anonymity can turn some people into dicks. Online, people can say whatever they like without consequence and hide from reality. Maybe they're unhappy with their lives, maybe I'm talking rubbish.

    There is probably a larger population of socially awkward people but I don't know about disabled. They have other things to worry about.

    If you don't like the people on these sites you should leave.

      Many internet users that post in the comments sections of many websites may not be mentally handicapped, but a lot of them sure are pricks, and they want to argue and insult as much as they possibly can. There have been some on this site too. Not you though Nikki, you're ok.

    hey believe what you want. i like that you are not using the word to mean something horrible and that you pointed it out. i think it is so much fun to be on the internt. i will never grow up because i want to be happy. i may be old but i will love god, treat people right, and do what makes me happy. a lot of times people look on people who use the internet as immature. i think that it would be immature to be hateful, and i bet when i get older i will be embarrassed about what i watch now, but ray william johnson =3, and all the others. i love them to the end of time. chill out by the way. it will be okay.

    Not all people with developmental disorders are childish, if that's what you're saying. And a lot of immature people are neurotypical, like my former coworker for example, throwing temper tantrums like a little bitch and getting away with it.

    Honestly what's wrong with liking memes? As long as they're not offensive memes that is, but most memes are supposed to make people laugh. Having an obsession with memes or social media to the point of abandoning responsibilities is unhealthy, but the same can be said for obsession with anything, right?
