Static bursts in my ear

To start off with, yes, I know what tinnitus is—but nothing I found about it described this specifically.

Loud noises cause a palpable crackling sensation in my right ear. I've usually noticed it in the midst of a moderate amount of constant noise, such as a crowded room; when the noise spikes, it's like my ear just flakes out for a moment until the noise drops again. It's not that it's intrusive, but it does vaguely lead me to suspect that I'm an android. I also remember possibly experiencing this as a child, but I'm not certain.

To reiterate, I know it's common to hallucinate static AFTER hearing loud noises, but what about during? Is it normal?

    Oh for goodness sake, that doesn't mean you're an android, it just means you need to have your gp check your ears and then if necessary have a hearing test.
