Students make fun of teacher iin?

It happened when I was in the class teaching financial accounting.

I saw one of my students damaged a currency note because of mishandling and I explained him that however the government will replace it for you but we should be more careful as they are expensive to manufacture.

The class burst out laughing.

I figured that they are unable to understand and explained them how every government expense is met by our taxes and it will be beneficial for us if those will be utilised more efficiently.

later I heard that student making fun of the idea of keeping currency notes safe.

I am still young (6 years older than my students) so I thought it might be easier to communicate with the students.

How should I deal with such situations?

Most teachers are in fact idiots, so yes, completely normal to make fun of them.

Those that can, do, those that can't, teach.

Just smile at them with a twinkle in your eye. If they ask why are you smiling, just say "Oh no special reason. But Karma is a bitch." And then walk away quietly laughing to yourself. They won't know what to do.

Teaching is a thankless job. No matter your approach you are the authority figure and will continue to be the butt of classroom jokes for some students.
