Suddenly remembering you’re alive

Does anyone else ever randomly remember that they’re alive right now and an actual person. Like you’ll be sitting there and suddenly you’re thinking ‘holy shit, i’m alive - this is life.’ This probably sounds super weird if you haven’t experienced this lol

No but I use to think wow I'm breathing automatically. Then id have to think to breathe until id forget and do it automatically again.

That just might be the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard.

  • Yeah, it’s unfortunate how the ‘i’m alive right now’ realisation inevitably leads to the ‘i’m going to die some day’ realisation.

"Sonder — noun. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own." - The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows.

Sounds like the opposite of that.

Often in the middle of the night I’ll suddenly remember that one day I’ll be dead and that, aside from the possibility of an afterlife, literally everything I know — my own self-awareness, senses, perceptions, and memories — will be non-existent, and it’s a weird feeling.

The weirdest part is thinking about how how thinking works, where the hell is the voice coming from?

Sometimes happens after I have been wasting time on Instagram.

I'll tell you what trips me out. If you took a human literally apart-- as in seperated us into our seperate body parts, no single part is alive, and no two or more parts are alive together. We're born in one piece and we are alive-- but if you put those pieces back together they'd stay dead. Yet, you CAN remove INDIVIDUAL parts. That part WILL die, and upon reattachment it COULD still return to life with the greater whole. You could be a full living being interacting with a part of your own dead body. Parts of your body can be attached to OTHER people-- that's still YOUR body part, it's still fully living-- yet you will never again have use or sensation of it. YOUR body will behave as if that part simply no longer exists, just because it's no longer attached-- despite being fully alive and functional. Somebody else's part will give you the function of the part you're missing-- but only when attached to YOUR body which it is not a part of. Yeah, it's probably for the best that I never make use of certain substances, because I am already there.

I get scared halfway down the stairs cause I suddenly become aware I’m on stairs and that’s dangerous as hell. Then I get pissed and curse cause you can’t just lose your stair momentum like that. This is a daily problem for me lmfao

I used to do that shit a lot back in my high school days. I'd also check the time on the clock and the date on the calendar and say the time and date out loud. I eventually found myself doing it in my dreams and somehow figured out how to lucid dream.
