Swear i got ptsd from yesterday

Had my car jacked up with lifts on both sides behind the wheels. I was changing my oil and one of the cock suckers at vavoline had put on the drain plug way too tight. So I had to pull on the screw with the wrench so hard the entire car fell off the jacks ontop of me. It really fucked up my arm. I actually got very lucky that the way the lift fell it was actually laying up against the handle sideways so the car was still lifted just enough to where I could breath and eventually squeezed myself out. Had that one lift not fell over sideways balancing on the handle Id certainly be dead.

I cant stop fucking thinking of the terror of that car falling on me and I cringe at the fact that I almost died. I keep playing out the scenerio in my head what would have happened. I dreamed about it last night and I keep replaying what I saw of the car falling it was in slow motiob.

That sounds absolutely terrifying and your reaction is completely understandable. You’re not going to recover from this overnight, give it time and try not to beat yourself up over it is all I can say.

    Fucking hell, dude! 😮

That's one of my nightmare scenarios, probably because a teenage guy who lived on our block when I was a kid died in just that way. I do all of the routine service and minor repairs on our cars, and I've bought ramps to use when I absolutely have to work underneath. Even though those are solid and I check them carefully before use, I'm still very leery about it, since the ground-clearance of our cars is so minimal that I'm sure I wouldn't survive them coming down on me.

As for oil changes, I suggest you consider getting a vacuum pump which will allow you to extract the oil through the dipstick tube. If the designer of the engine had half a functioning brain, you might be able to do an oil and filter change without getting under the car at all. And you'll never again have to worry about getting off fucking over-torqued drain plugs, getting filthy oil all over your hands and arms, replacing the damn crush washer, not cross-threading the plug, and torqueing it just the right amount.

but now it is cause i fixed it

always give er a kick and a shake before you crawl underneath
