Taking a driving test for the third time (third try)

I am not as nervous as the last 2 times but its stressful because I took a loan to pull off getting a license since I need one to be able to get a job. The loan is overdue and I still dont have a license or job so that's great.

Ive had to teach myself mostly since my dad(my instructor) doesnt give a fuck. Last 2 times I overprepared to the point of walking through roads in my city on google maps. I've noticed big improvements in my driving for example I slow down a lot in good time before circulation points and red lights so I dont need to stop and wait and I park straight on the first try, I can back around corners easily and I dont have to look down on the stick shift.
Of course i'll be driving a new car on the test which is a difficulty in its own.

After my second failed test the instructor said I turn the wheel so I end up in the opposite lane a bit when I go around a corner which is dangerous but i've been focusing hard on correcting that.

I feel like if i'm really a good driver now the skill should be in me naturally like it is for mature drivers who have a license so im not thinking about the test much this time im just gonna go ahead and do it. Is that good thinking? I feel like overpreparing made me more nervous the last two times, it worked well with the theory test which I passed on the first try but I think that with the actual driving-bit it has to be in your muscle memory. Is this true or not?

Maybe you should have signed up for driving lessons from someone other than your lazy ass dad? I'm sorry your father is a jerk.

    • I dont know anyone else whos has their license long enough to be allowed and like most other people I cant afford to only drive with a professional instructor from a school

Gosh, I wonder how much driving lessons are theses days? If my memory serves me well I took driving lessons back in 1987. 🤔

i think a big part of the test is who is testing you i had to take my test twice i failed the first time because i went a little off the road in the 3 point turn in part because i was driving a big mercury that was longer than the little road they took me to when i came back a different instructor took me to a parking lot for the three point turn.

It took me a few goes. It's not easy especially if the teaching has been such a problem.

Good luck OP, my advice would be to narrate what you’re doing during the test, eg. “I’m letting him go as it’s his priority” that helped me in my test and in the UK they do not deduct points for it. Remember that luck also plays a role so don’t be too hard on yourself for your past failures, I think I would have passed first time had the road been less of a mess that day.

When youre turning left at an intersection go straight longer before you turn. Like turn more widely. It sounds like you are cutting the turn too sharply. Do the same when you are turning out of a parking spot. If you just cut the turn immediately you can side swipe a car next to you

    • Thanks for the advice! I'll try that when I practice today

  • man, so much hassle just for getting a driver's license in ur country. I just threw a bribe at the officials and they gave me a license of both two wheeler and four wheeler, and ive never even driven a four wheeler before lmao.

Take the bus, taxi, or train, but stay off the road. Most people I know that aren't scary on the road were ready and decent at driving by 13 or 14.
