Testosterone replacement therapy

Testosterone Replacement Therapy or TRT is something I believe I will start in my mid to late 40s.

What are your opinions on TRT?

I stated that about 9 years ago. I sure wish I had known some things well in advance - and had I known things I could have prevented ever needing it. Now I suffer some long term effects.

Don't start it unless you have to; you are much better off loosing weight and building muscle mass. Also diet is important. Cut out excessive carbs and especially chips, cheese puffs, etc. from your diet.

Be aware that it may raise your blood iron (hematocrit) to unusually high levels, and you may have to have routine phlebotomies for health safety. As this is not a medical related issue you may have to pay for those.

Be aware that it will make your testicles shrink if used long term; which reduces your ejaculation quantity. You can take some very expensive drugs to help prevent that... only the insurance companies will not cover it.

Be aware that it will make you effectively sterile for the duration that you are taking it; and it will take many months for fertility to return after you stop, unless your testicles have shrunk to the point that they cannot return to normal fertility.

I've been getting testosterone injections once a month for years because I can't produce enough anymore (I guess I got kicked in the balls once too often...) and I can't name any noticeable negative side effects. Quite the opposite. Without it I had one or two problems, with it no more.

I think for those who need it, it's a good thing. For those who just want to push themselves, it's bullshit and can lead to problems. I read somewhere that it can also lead to overdose-induced gynaecomastia. Wouldn't want to risk that.

I'm on it as a 23 year old. My balls dont work so it cant naturally produce testasterone.

Honestly it's a bitch to remember to put on. I also dislike the controlled nature of it. I get it the roid ragers want to make unfair gains but I would greatly perfer if I am able to stockpile my meds I need to not suck at physcial stuff. Since its synthesized from yams it's far beyond what I could cook up at home.

Every single day. If my prescription runs out it starts to take its toll.

Every bottle is about a months worth

It's not the most expensive medication out there so I cant complain but it really sucks that I cant have a 3 months supply on standby incase of another shortage (like what happened during early covid)

Why not shift to injectable Testosterone. Its a lot cheaper, and you can lean how to inject yourself.

Most people do well on 1 week injection intervals. Honestly, 2 week intervals don't work well for many people.

A small % of people do best on smaller injections every few days.

I actually did really tiny injections daily for over a year while we were trying to figure out another issue I was having, now I'm back to every several days.

It's cheaper but also dramatically increases my chances of getting a stroke. So no thanks.
