The covid 19 test was very painful

They need to figure out something better, I've not been tested but it doesn't look pleasant.

Maybe a bad nurse did the test? It's gross and annoying, but not painful.
Either way, this shit REALLY needs to end soon.

Do you know what was really painful? I unfortunately have a lesion in my left nostril that for some reason doesn't want to heal so I had to see an Otolaryngologists a.k.a. an ear, nose & throat doctor, and he had to do a biopsy on it. He stuck a needle up there to give me a shot to numb it, and then did the biopsy, and to be honest it still hurt; I almost passed out!

Haven't had the test.

I wouldn't do it for fun but it didn't seem like a big deal when I had mine.

A nurse warned me it was painful when I wanted to take it back in June, scared me off because I have low pain tolerance.
I took a test myself instead with a homekit, not sure how reliable those are. I hope somehow they can find a better way to test you.
I dont really see much point in getting yourself tested though there's no treatment and if you have symptoms you can self isolate for the recommended amount of time and then take an antibodies-test which is just a regular blood sample. I guess it's good for the stats.

Three people I know had to get a COVID-19 test.

One of them did a saliva test for COVID-19 this week.

Two other people I know got the uncomfortable nose swab test last year.

The 1st one said it felt like a bug went up his nose for three seconds. He didn’t seem very bothered by it though.

The 2nd one let me know she didn’t like it, and from what she said about it it sounds hugely uncomfortable.

I don’t know you got the uncomfortable nose kind while there’s a saliva test. Maybe the uncomfortable nose kind was the only kind available where you got tested. Either way, I’m sorry. Maybe if you ever need to get tested again you could ask if the saliva test is an option.

Also, at the university where I live the students are required to get tested once a week, and it’s a nose one that’s just at the beginning nose and not uncomfortable. Maybe they’re doing that version when it’s just a routine maintenance thing, because when the 1st person I mentioned had a weird one time thing that involved needing to be tested because of being exposed to someone with COVID-19, a saliva test was done.

My job gives out tests and we do the stuff ourselves. It dose not hurt chances are the person did it wrong.

I've had the test done multiple times, and it wasn't painful. It just felt weird. It kind of felt like my eyeball wanted to sneeze, but can't because it's an eyeball.

I don't know what test you've had but I've had the test a few times now and it's nowhere near as bad. I'm also confused about the "only a second" part because the legit test is not a single second of time up the nose.

I got it done, for me it wasn’t fun but it wasn’t very painful

i been gettin tested weekly

i got the 4 inch up the nose once last spring and it sucked

ever since ive had the less invasive test where they give me the qtip and its 3 circles in each nostril

I was really nervous about it after hearing it described as a “brain tickler” and upon having it done found out why it was called that, it was so far up it felt like it scraped the brain which was severely uncomfortable and I had phantom pain there for the following day and trauma for 3 days. But I should say as a disclaimer my pain threshold is low.

I had my nose self swabbed. It didnt hurt so I dont think I did it right.... i got my first Pfizer shot yesterday :)

I've had 5 tests. One was painful as you say, and the others were just like having a cotton bud up my nose and made me sneeze. They were taken in different countries.
Interestingly, it was just the first one that was painful and they got less uncomfortable the more I had them. By the 5th one I was like, 'What, was that it? Are you sure you've done it right?'.

I think a lot depends on where you have it done, and whether you're anxious and expecting it to hurt.

Pain or no pain, it's worth knowing whether you have covid or not.

Sounds a lot painful like what other people has said.

I was dreading it. My grandmother had to be tested a few times last year and said it was painful...but apparently they've improved the tests. It was gross and made my eyes run as much as my nose was already, but it didn't hurt.

If you refuse to do any more testing, be prepared to stay home until you get vaccinated.
