The majority of horror movies just annoy me

Hey.

So, as the title suggests, the majority of horror movies get on my nerves to the point that I sometimes need to leave the room. Whenever a jumpscare, gore, etc. shows up, rather than scaring me, I just get mad. I've noticed that they just use the same exact devices over and over (for example, excessive gore).

I watched quite a few back when they actually scared me. I think that may have something to do with it. The movies just seem the same to me now. Strangely enough, I tend to watch Youtube channels about true crime and the like. I think that I only tolerate them better because they're actually real stories that make sense, rather than movies that would never play out in the same way as they do on screen.

That being said, I do enjoy some (The Shining, Hellraiser, just to name a few).

I just wanted to ask if anyone else here has experienced this. Thanks.

PS: If you're wondering why I watch these if I don't like them, it's more that my house has thin walls and other members of my household keep playing them.

I agree. Especially about jumpn scares. Every time I watch someone playing a horror game (I don't play horror games) and there's a jump scare, I jump, and that's about it. All they do is irritate me. They're not scary; they merely startle, and every time one happens, I end up jolting about and getting annoyed.

    • I was thinking this, but I just wasn't sure if it was right that they make me so mad. Thanks for your opinion, though!

NO problemo, I can't stand romcoms.

its the plot of shakespeares taming of the shrew with the absurd comedy style of airplane! woven in under the surface of a goofy high school romcom

Hellraiser is dope, the imagery is fantastic.

I hear tell they’re making it into a tv show.
