The possiblities of a god.

Now i'm not going to be one of those people that says "oh, there is no god. whoever believes that is stupid and ignorant". clearly there are some very intelligent Christians but i spend a lot of time thinking, well actually all of my time i spend thinking. after a while i have come to my personal idea that there is no god but i have doubts in my logic. however i find more holes in the ideas of believers. i really have no what clue to believe as far as god goes. If there is a god out there then what is his role in my life. because as far as im concerned he hasn't directly influenced my life, except for make me spend quite a bit of time pondering life. is it normal to ponder these kinds of things?

If your parents (and upbringing) were believers then you will be too, maybe not the same version as theirs but you will always have it in the back of your mind.

Fortunately my parents were not church goers and so god in any form didn't mean anything and I don't ever remember my family or friends at school even mentioning a god.

Christian, jew, muslim, buddist etc.,all believe in a god.
I always thought people were just pretending to believe until terrorists showed me exactly how much THEY believe.

I still cannot understand what purpose gods are supposed to have. It makes no sense at all to me to think that after you die you are going to spend eternity somewhere else. like duh? Why?

When my mother was on her deathbed at 88years old. She had been told she would die within 2 weeks (my cruddy sister told her that - mum has a right to know (COW!)
Anyhow as she lay dying and I'm giving her a hug, she says to me "I don't want to die, I want to stay here" I said as consolingly as I could to hopefully cheer her up.." It'll be okay mum, you'll get to see dad and (her family that were dead) and the 3 sons she lost (9 kids in our family).
and she says "Oh you don't believe in that nonsense, you know it's all poppycock!"
I told that her that there was no harm in hedging your bet...

In the long run it's easier to accept death if you really believe its just another phase of life.
it's easier to slave for the King or Government or the plantation owner when you believe life is just a stopover for something better.
It's easier to keep people in line and get them to believe someone is watching even when the guards are not there.
It's profitable to have worshippers give money to the church.
Best part of all is that you don't need to show them proof.
Faith means to believe in the unprovable.
When man created god he did so for good reason and socially it seemed like a good idea.

If you think there is a god but don't like the current ones, try aliens - it's all the fad nowadays.
Or, create your own god. assign him all the qualities you would like your god to have and chat to him/her/it when you are feeling low.

Thats perfectly normal. I think we all go through that period of our lives where we question our beliefs and want to come to our own conclusions. I also liked how you were respectful about what you were trying to say ; kudos to you for being mature about it.

I'd like to add that almost all the animals are God, and so are people. A creature born to look human, to whom can feel happy when let down, and is perfect in every way, with structured fine hair, and delicate skin with colours of aesthetic quality. Consider an insect, all the eyes put together, though they make you sick, an insect is delicate, with light-reflecting eyes without pupils, I can't explain it but an insect is beautiful, thus an ant, with delicate eyes, and stuff, very difficult to look at is the creation of God, for it's made very small to prevent the vomiting, and that's why God creates extremely sickening creatures, but not swines (created by Satan), all insects are created by God because of its similarities to a green one, or one that turns into a butterfly, and a moth has half the beauty, moths are beautiful creatures. God can do all and knows all. He can even transform a brutally honest person into a lovable and honest person, through the spark, the light, that created life itself.

Yes, there is God. Nature is God, not grown or evolved literally, but by a spark from the light that created the universe. God is a woman, she's not a bloke with a beard. She created delicacy, and the fountain of youth. And she made grapevines, and the daintiest forests, she even made the hot springs and the coldest but highest mountains, from a spark of light. Physics: do the maths, light, the energy, creates matter, and matter times the speed of the spark explodes into things of the highest beauty.

Thinking is very good. Also, I believe religious ideas can't stand deep scrutiny. Which doesn't mean that the people who believe in them aren't capable of such. It's just that it's very easy for people to encase the beliefs in a bubble, and protect them from their intellect.

whatever god is, it gave us a brain, a brain to think. to figure out, to ask questions. I don't believe in god. i have a lot of reasons not to. Its normal to think what you think.

i think it's normal to think about these things. why wouldn't you, when some people tell you there is a god, and some say no way. the thing is, there are so many gods out there, all created my man. so of all the gods out there, there is a religion for each one of them. some gods get more than one religion, and that gives people more reasons to argue how to honor their god. it never ends.

it's a question where there isn't an answer. alot of people find comfort in thinking there is a god, and therefore gravitate to the religion that suits their comfort.

You're right, the christians didn't verbally abuse people during the crusades, they slaughtered them. I could go on for hours on the atrocities performed in the name of god but quite frankly most people should already know this.
