There are 4 types of people in the workplace:

The Cynic
Likes other Cynics
Annoyed by Try-Hards (They will become Cynics one day; it's just a manner of time)
Hates Pillagers
Glad Incompetents exist (They will be fired first, so they act as canneries)
Quality of work: Fair - Good, always enough to stay employed, sometimes enough to advance to similar positions, never enough to advance to more difficult positions
Standard Daily activity:
-Do enough work to meet all deadlines and make sure nothing bad happens
-Write posts about how there are 4 types of people in the workplace

The Try-Hard
Likes other Try-Hards
Feels sorry for Cynics (Poor Broken shells of men)
Hates Incompetents
Denies the existence of Pillagers (They are all just successful Try-Hards)
Quality of work: Good - Excellent, often enough to advance to low-mid management but never enough to advance to upper management
Standard Daily activity:
-Do enough work to meet all deadlines and make sure nothing bad happens
-Polish their work
-Work on advancing themselves
-Fix the work of incompetents

The Incompetent
Hates other Incompetents (Look at them not pulling their weight)
Hates Cynics
Likes Try-Hards (And thinks they are one of them)
Doesn't understand what a Pillager is
Quality of work: Poor - Fair, sometimes enough to get them by, never enough to advance them, if times get tough they will be fired
Standard Daily activity:
-Runs around like a chicken with their head cut off
-Complains

The Pillager
In battle with other Pillagers (Mutual respect, but all’s fair in love and war)
Hates Cynics (Except if they need head-count to expand their empire)
Hates Incompetents (Except if they need head-count to expand their empire)
Likes Try-Hards
Quality of work: Poor - Excellent, but their advancement is about who's butts they kiss/kick and has nothing to do with quality of work
Standard Daily activity:
-Completes their work or gets a Try-Hard to do it for them
-Sucks up to their boss
-Back stabs their rival
-Throws an incompetent/cynic under the bus if things get hairy

      Try-Hards and Cynics often are. I get along with my Cynic friends just fine and few of them are incompetent or unethical. Several of them are even intelligent. I also get along with my Try-Hard friends, but I always feel the need to pretend I'm a try-hard too when I'm around them. There is only one or two people at my work who are incompetent, but I get along with them just fine. I don't think they like me very much though. There are a few pillagers at my work place. I mainly stay away from them because they are freaking scary and sometimes evil. My guess is that you are a Try-Hard and probably think my cynical view of the world makes me a sad lonely man. Don't worry, you'll get there too :)

    None. My workplace consists of me as the only adult, the cat and the crazy midgets.

    Yesterday, the three year old cried for ten minutes because he wanted "his" Christmas now.

    The one year old cried because he wanted the whole sandwich in his face at once and I wouldn't let him because he chokes. He also ate cat food.

    And the day before had been so easy.

    I'm totally a cynic. Even outside the work place I am totally a cynic. But it's even more pronounced at the workplace.

    I hate the incompetents though. The try hards I just pity, I don't actually hate them, I just pity that they still don't see the really real world for what it is and allow themselves to be trampled under with work under the delusion they are "getting ahead".
