there's something in my attic making scratching noises. It's been in there making noises for about 2 years now. I don't think it's a rat or a squirrel because it sounds bigger than that. It doesn't make any other noises but the scratching noise, and occasionally it sounds like it's romping around across the floor. I'm afraid to go up there and check to see what it is. I don't know how it has survived in there for this long. What could it be?

    I knew there rats in our attic growing up as a kid, and it never bothered me.
