Ambient music, walking during sunset or near the shore of Lake Erie, water just looks magical to me.
Classical solo-piano or cool jazz
A late night run
7-4-8 breathing
A lone walk in the woods at night ;..;
Being suspended underwater
Thunderstorms
Sometimes being in a crowded place
Your mum
I have powerful emotions , some I cant control or understand but I notice sometimes I can do little things to make the day a bit better .. going for a walk , reading , having a long shower ( sit down shower ) laying down and resting but not really thinking , meditation can help . I sometimes find sex / masturbation can help but not always . It all depends on the emotion and how powerful it is but the goal is to keep trying to overcome it , prevail against it .. come out the victor and don't let it control you :D
Music will often change my mood for the better. It doesn't hurt to have a loving, supportive partner, either.
Loud music, long drives, I don't smoke anymore but weed was pretty effective. That's if I want to deal with or think about whatever's got me down.
If I just want to get it off my mind or forget about it. I fill my time with distractions, so people, activities, a night out. Having something to occupy the time I would spend obsessing and getting upset, helps wonders.
Smoke a little shrubbery, take a drive, work in the yard, clean the house, make myself a sammich, play with the dogs, umm
Music, weed, driving somewhere to be alone with my music and weed, or just driving while listening to loud music, possibly singing. Sometimes I just need to be alone and think about stuff and sometimes I need a friend to talk to...sometimes both. And sometimes I need a drank. Basically, a distraction.
Music is my cure all. I have particular genres or specific songs to calm me down according to what manner my mood as been elevated for. I'll put head phones in and write or draw. That is really the only way I can get myself back down to 'level'
I my trusty Siamese cat keeps me from going completely bat shit crazy, he is my raison d'etre.
Looks like people have already provided some great suggestions. Sometimes simply taking a couple deep breaths can clear your head and calm you down. The key is to keep your mind focused on other things, but that can be the hardest part.
Road trip. Just signal my dog it's time to go, and hop in the truck. I keep a backpack in the cab with just about everything we might really need, just for those times.
Playing rugby, reading,a long walk but mostly i am most calm when i find a nice green patch of grass, sun not so hot and no one in sight and just lie there.I can spend hours lieng there.
Now if only i could find a gf who plays guitar to compliment that.
Food usually calms me down. A little bit of chocolate(or sometimes the whole bag) goes a long way.
