To dream or not to dream.

I recently found that I do not dream anymore. I used to have vivid surreal dreams and insomnia in between . Just recently I began to work extra hours per day , and...I lost my dreaming abilities at night.

Is it normal to have no dreams or no recollection of one? Or am I possibly very fatigued and my brain just goes into deep sleep mode?

    Of course you still dream.
If you stopped dreaming while asleep it would have the same effect as sleep depravation and you would lose your sanity around day five or so.

You simply can't remember them upon waking.

Maybe your new sleep schedule is stressing you and making it hard for you to remember your dreams, but I doubt that you don't dream anymore. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I used to take Ambien to help me sleep, but I told the doctor I didn't want to take it anymore, because it felt like I never dreamed anymore. It felt awful, like I would just be unconscious for a while and then just wake up like nothing. I love dreaming!

To dream or not to dream. That is the question. :)

Happens to me based on how long I sleep

Hm. How many hours of sleep do you get, and is your sleep schedule consistent?
