To have long-running feuds with posters on iin?

Is it normal to have long-running arguments with other posters on IIN?

If you have done this, what form did it take? I don't mean the details, names, etc - don't want to start your arguments up again - just how long did it go on for, why did you keep it going, did you regret it later? Whatever...

yeah there was one i had when i first started here. someone didnt like that i posted "long" comments. in the end they left because i didnt back down. i guess they were used to being a bully and pushing people around and when their "target" didnt get scared off, they obviously didnt like it. but i dont see the point in arguing with people on here anymore. you dont get anywhere because 99% of the time, they dont want to hear someone elses opinion. those people arent worth my time.

There is more to life outside the very screen you are looking at.

I never had a long one, but I have had a few... 'interesting' conversations. Do I regret it? Hell no.

I've had a few debates with posters that went on, but i think most of them were both of us making (mostly) constructive points back and forth. I usually come out respecting the opinions of the other user more because of it. Some threads you agree, others you don't.

I've never had a feud where feelings from one thread spreads into another though.

I have them several times when the topic really interests me I can go on forever; There are many intelligent people on here who are worth argueing against =P

  • I think anyone who is arguing, especially with the long posts, on IIN have way too much time on their hands. It just makes me think they have nothing going on with their life.

I've had a few like that, but most of them were quickly resolved. None of them have ever become huge fights that carried on in different posts. I sometimes regret making the original comment that started the disagreement, but what's the point in life if you're too scare to speak your mind?

Idk about feuds or anything, but I know there are a few people on here that absolutely can't stand me because they think I'm a chauvinist pig. W/e though. If I cares what trolls thought I'd still be a fucking goat.

Someone once had a 12 paragraph argument about smoking weed. That was ridiculous.

Aussiewolf, I'm glad your still on here! Your comments are always great and helpful! Yah I'm back!

  • I certainly dont have any long standing feuds with posters at all, most of them tend to be short lived. But as I am almost always trolling in way or another its hard to avoid it.

Troll not care what others think. Troll need eat.

    Yeah, I've had one.

It was rather ridiculous and I see arguing more as sport or passtime if there is not any intellectual activity going on. They kept ending every ridiculously long and stupid paragraph with "But I have better things to do with my time then talk to you" or "I'm not going to waste my time on you" or my favorite "I don't know what else to tell you".

After a backlash or two of pure taking out your low self-esteem on me and making insults that are completely irrelevant to the conversation and failing to understand the basic principals of logic, I kind of realized that she didn't have anything better to do than to argue with me and she just wasn't going to stfu. I normally see them attacking people left and right anyway. It's nothing personal, she was just a hateful little clown.

Some people take the internet waaaaaay too seriously.

I can usually tell by the 3rd or 4th comment if an argument is worth it, and most of the time it's not. So I rarely get into disputes here.

I've seen it go on but have never been involved in one..yet.

I think it is completely normal, especially on sites where people are requesting other peoples oppions. It is bound to happen. I don't think people who engage in heated debates have no lives or too much time on their hands. I think they are very passionate about their thoughts.

    That is admirable.

Aussiewolf was it you that was having the argument with the person who said your idea of opening up a dog shelter was stupid? I was in that argument too, on your side and the person was writing ridiculous comebacks? May be a different aussiewolf but I liked that poster, always gave great advice :)

Probably yes, but I disliked the arguing much more than I disliked the person. I didn't dislike the person at all.

I've had some small arguments on here, but it's not me that starts it. Well I wrote the original post, but I wasn't expecting rude comments. But those people didn't really understand what I was saying so I kept trying to explain it more thoroughly. I don't actually get mad unless someone disagrees with me on something I feel strongly about.

After arguing here I mostly don't even remember who I was arguing with.

Its just a web site. How many comments and opinions here are completely fictitious, and posted for no other reason than to annoy you. Of course if you and the other person can take sides just because and have some fun with it then y not? Aubviously I'm bored enough to be here so let's start a random argument and see where it goes.
