There's another explanation for the superstition about Friday 13 being unlucky: followers of nature based spirituality, which existed long before christianity, know that there are 13 moon cycles in a year and the supersition probably arose as yet another example of christianity demonising other forms of spirituality ....... That's when it wasn't taking them over, eg spring festival Oestre became Easter and winter solstice became xmas.

    Yeah and the moon's cycle is no more 28 days than are most women's menstrual cycles ..... I've been pointing this out for years to self-styled wiccans and pagans who are so out of touch with the natural world they've never noticed the full moon doesn't turn up on the same day of the week every month, they just keep repeating the myth that both women and the moon are some sort of machines with the same 28 day cycle
