Trouble eating with mouse in the house

i have recently discovered that my apartment has a mouse problem. I caught one, then threw it away, then caught another one and thew that one away, thinking that the problem was over i was i thought i was able to enjoy my life afterwards. I began to eat my usual diet again after being unable to because i was so disgusted that i would be eating near parasite carrying mice. Then last night i saw another one roaming the apartment. I have been really depressed recently since im poor and i feel as though i always end up being surrounded by shitty things no longer how hard i try to get away from them, but anyways, i have not eaten anything all day and ive been up for nearly 7 hours. I can't eat in my apartment. What should I do? Is it normal i feel this way, my housemate is totally fine with it and doesn't know why i'm being so weird about it.

That's disgusting, you should call the landlord, or maybe get a few penguins to keep yourself company.

Whenever I am made aware of the presence of a non-domestic mouse in my house I use a humane trap then go to a nearby park and set the mouse free, that's how I roll. I also never kill spiders.

    • you have clearly never dealt with a major rat/mouse infestation before. Its not that easy.

I never said it was easy to have an infestation.

Thank you. Never kill spiders. They are the greatest thing for the control of insects since... well other insects. Also bats and snakes are really handy. Snakes also keep mice and rats down.

I'm nice to spiders too. I judge them by their merits, not their appearance. I only wish certain humans would give other humans the same courtesy.

I honestly think most spiders are beautiful.

I have never understood spider's personalities. Cat personalities makes sense to me. Dog personalities are almost human anyway. But spiders? Not really.

It is very dangerous to pursue women on the basis of beauty without regard to personality. I would think spiders have the same danger warning. Maybe someday you can introduce me to your 8 legged pets.

Well, they're not my pets. When I lived in that small gated community in Las Vegas the place where all the cluster mailboxes were in the community was full of black widow spiders, but it never bothered me. I was never afraid, and I never complained to anyone about their presence. I love how shy and non-aggressive those spiders are to humans.

Spiders are amazing creatures... they stick around and you get to know them after a while.

I had one tunnel into a bag of baked goods from the back side of the package. I ate some of it unknowingly and became extremely ill. Those damn things are deadly, watch your food. Keep your food stored properly in cupboards that mice can't get into.

If you knew how disgusting the world you live in is you would never eat again. For example fecal matter from your toilet can travel thirty to fifty feet from the toilet. Also it's in aerosol form. So it can get into cupboards, drawers and closets. Look it up. Your toothbrush is covered in fecal matter.

And what about bacteria? Like the bacteria in your body. Five hundred to one thousand different species live in the human body. And those are the beneficial ones.

It's definitely not normal that this mouse infestation is affecting your appetite, unless you are really hygiene sensitive and paranoid that the mouses have somehow contaminated your food. I'd be more worried about sleeping in a place with mice, but i guess that if i was poor i would get used to it eventually. Cockroaches are more disgusting to me than mice, and represent as much of a health hazard. You should definitely ditch your house mate and the apartment all together, at least think about it until you find a better job. Do you feel contented with your life overall, or do you ambition more out of life?

    • I used to live in a really ratty old apartment as a child, moved into it with my mother after my parents divorced. It was okay at first until we discovered all the stuff that came with it. Cockroaches were discovered the first day, then bedbugs and mice later that night.

What was most gross about it all is that if you left a glass of water on a table for an hour a bunch of baby cockroaches would crawl in and die in it. I would inch every night from bed bug bites, and roaches would crawl out of my bag at school then, we would always find mouse crap in the pantry. It was gross. Anytime i have to deal with one of the 3 pests i'm disgusted.

I saw the tiniest bug on the bedcover in the hotel where we are staying. I was looking for a plastic bag to put it in so I could look it up online, but then I lost the damn thing. I hope it wasn't a bedbug, but none of us have bites or itches. I should have just killed it.

        • it could be.. once you kill a bed bug it bleeds human blood. One good sign of a bed bugs is little blood spots on the sheets, bed bugs are really difficult because they are invisible until they bite you then you can see the. Don't show them mercy because they never show mercy to you. They eat people up like pork chops.

            Meep!

I still wish I could have stuck the little bugger in a ziploc bag. I probably just should have killed it, and looked for blood like you said though.

What if you put a small piece of raw hamburger on a glue trap? It's one of hundreds of untested ideas that pop into my head as I constantly notice analogies, relationships, and create quippy offbeat shit.

Next time I check into a fleabag Motel 6, I'll have to try it out. Anyway, it's a win-win. The bedbugs get to pursue the smell of blood, and I get to be a neurotic genius like that mad professor in Back to the Future.

I haven't seen any other small insects except for that one tiny one. I hope it was the only one! It was almost invisible compared to the pictures of bed bugs I've seen online and on television.
