True strength, and does age matter?

Ok... Hypothetical question. I want to know how other People view the human body, and it's limitations.

21 year old couch potato decides he wants to start working out. He trains religiously for 10 years. He is 31 years old, and built like an athlete.

12 year old kid discovers football (american). After joining his school team he finds out that he is a natural. He trains everyday, and even got accepted to college on a scholarship. In college at the age of 21, he decides he does not want to go pro, and instead becomes a sports doctor. He still works out religiously for 10 years, and is now 31.

Now... Both of these young men are the same race, height, weight, and can even bench press the same amount.

In your personal opinion, who do you think is stronger? Does the fact that the twelve year old athlete has more experience than the couch potato make him stronger? Or does that mean nothing since they seem to be even? Leave a comment.

Couch potato is stronger 8
Obviously it's the 12 year old athlete 12
They are both equal in strength 22

If neither one has showered the whole time, I think the one who has been working up a sweat since the age of 12 is going to smell stronger. Although if the couch potato was too lazy to get up to go to the bathroom then he will have the stronger odor.

The way I see it, physical strength is defined by results. So test both men. That's the only way it's possible to know.

    Trick question.

Neither, strength is a made up term, made up by humans trying to defy the universe.

Experience doesn't equate to physical strength at its basis. One may be a better athlete than another, but that doesn't mean that the better athlete has more "true strength."

I think this is silly, that's what I think. Until some moron scientist does a test and publishes a mind numbing documentary about it we'll never know.

Maybe he should have asked a question about cricket or rugby. Like maybe,"which game comes closest to letting women and seniors play"??

well the 12 year old has been "training" since 12... Theoretically he should be stronger.

  • Hmmmm. If the 12 year old kid had discovered rugby instead of football, perhaps his strength would be more convincing to me.

Unless the couch potato did some serious artery clogging damage in his couch prime days, I am not so sure there would be much of a difference when it comes to brute strength. Hell, you even said they bench press the same amount so I am not really sure where you are going with this. I am assuming you mean who is generally better than the other.

Human bodies are pretty bad ass. The only remarkable one-up the twelve year old has on the couch potato is the more time spent committing tasks to muscle memory. I imagine the grown twelve year old to be a precisely oiled and programmed machine, with ten more years of athletic experience on the potato. But as for strength? I do not believe there is much of a difference
