Have you ever had the dishonor of working with a petty coworker? I am right now, and I can’t stomach him.

My contract is part time (55 hours per two weeks.) If my day off equates to a 3 day weekend he makes comments like “It must be nice to have a long weekend,” or “how many hours did actually work this week!” His tone isn’t joking but condescending.

And the time I didn’t have my day off before the weekend he complained my schedule is inconvenient and bad for business. Well dude, fix my contract. And I just finished a county-wife ahead of head, but me! I’ve been employed for 2 years and he still makes comments:

How about the day I left early sick with my supervisor’s approval he texted me why I left work? And on his day off I went home for a doctors appointment he asked why I was driving on the highway instead of work? Would this sound stalk-ish to you?

He really pissed me off when two other coworkers and I planned to go out after work this upcoming Friday. One of the coworkers asked him to join us, and somehow he was offended that I personally don’t ask him.

Am I crazy to think this behavior is fucking odd?

    omg, i think he's like a little boi that wants to be friends with you but doesn't know how to so instead just busts your balls and is an annoying fuck all the time. must live a sad life.. you owe nothing to him, just do your job and call him out if he is acting like a fucking stalker. tolerate no abuse from that bitch

      Another coworker is, but overall he has a good reputation, but do I. I just wish some people could disappear lol....actually, seriously.

      It’s just very irritating. He deals with the public often, so he’s used to giving people attitude. Somehow that carries to my work schedule when it dosen’t affect his. In fact, I’ve spent an entire day creating a presentation (since my computer has a program that would help,) and since he’s really understaffed for his job, he can’t really return the favor.

    There are lots of people who are dicks and others that we have personality clashes with and just can't enjoy being around. This guy sounds like just your common variety of self-important dickhead with a greatly inflated opinion of his significance.

    There's nothing you can do to alter his behaviour or change the person he is. The only things you do have control over are your behaviour and how you respond to him.

    From what you say, he has no formal power over you in the organisation, and you don't have the power to fire him or move him to some position where you don't have to deal with him. So you have the choice of either allowing him to constantly wind you up, or learning to accept that the dude is who he is, and figuring out how to tune him out. As it is, you're giving him the power to get under your skin. Is he really such an important figure in your life that you need to give him so much attention?

    You're not answerable to him, so any comments or questions he may have about your work performance and the hours you work can safely be blown off with a shrug and "Whatever, dude."
