Violence is never the answer

People say "violence is never the answer" but no one really believes it. For some reason most people agree its ok to go to war and kill people in circumstances, so they believe it is sometimes the answer. But to some individuals dishing out justice in society is unacceptable. I actually think the problem with the world now is people dont have to worry about violence from others enough.

People are used to sitting behind screens and being disrespectful and they are taught "violence is never the answer". They think they can treat people crazy in the real world. Then when someone gets slapped in their face for doing something obviously wrong to someone people act outraged.

If you purposefully cut someone in line at the grocery store and then when the person you cut asks you to go to the end of the line and you say "fuck you" I dont see a moral problem with that person slapping you in the face. If someone calls your wife a "stupid bitch" right infront of you I dont see an issue with a slap. I dont know if it should be legal to assault people under these circumstances but I dont see a problem with it myself. It doesn't take much to treat people respectfully. If you do it you never have to worry.

I think a better solution would be to learn not to care about words so much, and not to let people rile you up so easily. Saying "Fuck you" or "Your wife is a stupid bitch" as an adult is childish and embarrassing, and the only response we should give to that is to laugh at it and tell them to grow up. To take it seriously and get offended is only to give their insults power and validity.

    • I disagree. I think you are morally sound to defend your honor in those situations. I think its more civilized to slap someone in the face for calling your wife a bitch than calling someones wife a bitch.

War is one thing but punching someone in the streets is fucking stupid. All it takes is a punch to just the wrong spot or for someone's head to hit the concrete and now you're a murderer. You'd be surprised how easy it is to accidentally kill someone.

Violence is an answer, just most of the time it's not the best. Sometimes it is the best answer.

Eye for an eye is also misunderstood. An eye for an eye is literally if your enemy takes your eye the maximum you can take is their eye. It is not an encouragement for escalating the retaliation.

I agree that violence is often made necessary, but the examples you've given aren't an instance of that.

For larger societal ills, I don't think there are that many problems that can't be solved by straight up murdering enough of the right people: Government's corrupt? Burn it down. Kill the senators. Corporation raised the price of lifesaving medicine? Force them at gunpoint to make it for free. Etc...

Obviously it leaves a bad taste but it is imo the most pragmatic solution, and if the people within the system (whatever the fuck the system is) have closed all other avenues of action then it's those people who've made violence necessary

The pragmatic solution would be selling a cheaper version of the med. The process is known it's just the formula that's trademarked.

It's more complicated but overall more effective than holding a corporation at gun point and hope they have the good will.

Make the good will a pragmatic one and suddenly you see companies do good.

I like the cathartic barbarism of the gun point solution though

Sill wont work. Then that group becomes domestic terrorists and now you got the national guard on your ass.

Numbers only work when you have the grassroots support to change the legislation. Numbers wont work if you are armed and you are trying to force a company to do something they dont want to do.

As I said before, it's wrong to cause pain or purposely potentially injure someone because they made certain sounds with their mouth or whatever. Justice is not pain or misery or suffering.
