I don't believe all war veterans are "heros", infact the concept kind of annoys me.

Blindly fighting a war for a corrupt cause without questioning your morals or leaders doesn't make you a hero in my eyes.

It makes you a bit of an idiot actually.

I dont think fighting for any side makes anyone a hero.
Real heros save lives without using violence and risk their own for others.

    I'd agree with you that you don't automatically get hero status because you've had a job with the military, but I think you're more likely to come to deserve hero status than the sports-people we refer to as heroes.

    If I'd lost three limbs trying to save someone else's life, I'd be a bit pissed off that someone else got hero status because they carried on playing football for ten minutes despite having a bit of cramp (and being paid £150,000 per week for doing it).

    Your comment will drive a lot of yanks nuts because they are so extremely patriotic and militarized. But you are right. Not all veterans are "heroes." Some under combat conditions even became monsters.

    Nobody has taken in to consideration that i didn't state what country the "heros" are from.

    Would you be so quick to stick up for the heros of the taliban? Or the nazi's? I doubt it.

        The people in "combat situations" are just people from the same places as everyone else, just dan from the block. I could find way better soldiers, they just wouldn't get accepted on phycological grounds.

          The argument is that your to much of a wimp to auctully sign for war ? you would not go die on the field you would not go die so the poeple living at home to not have to sacrifice themseleves ? HAte the war not the ones serving . If it was not them dieing you know damn well it would be the men at home . Do you not know what a draft is ? its when the goverment forces poeple who do not want to go to war into the battle field the fact these find poeple sign up gives you the chance not too . Weather you think the war is idiotice you should have some respect becuase you know that if it was not them getting them selves killed it be you . You would not have a choice and you would die a death you did not volunteer for . They go to serve thier country and the poeple back home anyone who insults a troop is a worthless little coward . Do you know how many poeple want to fight for thier family thier children so that you are given a chioce to go to school ? you have a chioce to live to age 20 so that YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DYING . So this has nothing to do with education its with the fact you would bite the hand fighting in your name . So sure lets brings back all the troops and shame them but if we do that , do you know what is going to happen next ? the goverment is going to say well I guess your next up goodluck ! so if you would like to die instead of the troops keep talking .

    Well, not sure if I agree with you, mainly because you word this very terribly.

    I'd agree that it is quite annoying that absolutely EVERYONE in the military/navy/whatever gets automatic hero status. I have a friend who is a trumpeter for the Canadian Navy, and has never really done anything that puts him above anyone, yet he is constantly put on a pedestal.

    That being said, a very large amount of people in the forces actually do go beyond what most people will for their country, and do deserve thanks, and sometimes, even hero status.

    I kind of feel the same as the OP , but I also recognize the danger involved and so admire them for that...its basically how I feel about cops...I admire their courage and bravery but I hate their mindless acceptance of the status quo....and basically believe that they are doing it for their own need to dominate and control others...have you ever talked to a cop that didnt know it all? I havent....they always think they are so smart and so right about everything in the world and most of them dont even have a 4 year degree...but they knownit all and can judge you....its their need to dominate to control and some are even sadistic and use the badge as an opportunity to hurt people ...sadistic and socity then calls them heroes

    War veterans? Heroes...? Now that's funny. In his country he may be a patriot, a hero. In the other a murderer. In other words, kill few to save some, kill some to save all. Hero is just a fancy word, that the goverment gave you. The real heroes are either in prison, or dead.

    I couldn't agree more. I'm personally very anti-war and have a bit of a dislike for the military and its concept. So long as you don't dehumanize them as people, you having your own views are entirely acceptable. I mean, if you deny someone basic right because they were in the military that's a bit far, but not for having disdain. I, myself feel the same way.
