Was this normal school policy even in 2002?

I always thought the policy for P.E was strange during the first year of middle school, especially since someone I know recently agreed with me who was in the same year at a different school. After P.E the teacher would leave the changing room and we would all have to shower. It was one big room with 8 seperate shower heads yet no cover for privacy inbetween just one big room. Plus it was manditory for the first year yet by choice for the rest of the time in school. Would you consider this normal for a middle school.

    Our PE change rooms had showers, two big rooms with no partitions. I don't think they even worked...I think girls just used them for smoking.

      This was the same with both my middle school and my high school; they technically did have showers, but they never worked. (My middle school never needed them anyway since the middle schools near me have no sports teams).

        The schools I went to had no showers. They said they kept getting sexual harassment cases and well a few girls were raped. So they took them out.

    Every locker room I have ever seen has been set up this way. Even at like a Gold's.

    But I honestly think it's a breach of privacy, in middle school you're 11-15, right? (I'm not American so yeah)
    I would honestly not feel comfortable with showering next to 8 other kids my age, even at 11.

    We had shower rooms in middle school, but we just smoked in them. In high school, it was only mandatory to shower after swim class, even if it's in your swim suit.

    We didn't have to shower after P.E., but that's what our showers looked like, so I voted normal...
