Was this youtube comment normal?

I was browsing Youtube a few days ago and found a comment that bugs me.
The video was one of those viral ones on the homepage, 'This is what happens when you park on a disabled spot in Brasil', or something like that.
And some guy commented, 'As a reddit atheist, I believe that the disabled should be euthanised to conform with Darwin's ideas of survival of the fittest.'
Problem is, this comment had 605 likes!
Does that mean the majority of the viewers of the video would support the killing of people just because of what some person said? What if the majority of the world supports this - are we really that corrupt?
I don't like sharing this world with people like the said commenter, is my reaction normal?

Pretty much. The users thought his joke was funny and thumbed it up.

You do realise you've asked to opposing questions here, one in the heading (to which I say NO) and then another one in the last sentence (to which I say Yes).

The commenter you mention gives the rest of us atheists a bad name and is totally distorting Darwin's theory of natural selection

I don't think the world is. Reddit and youtube comments definitely are. Two of the darkest places on the internet, where people spout absolute shit.

What would be really amusing is if that commenter developed some sort of late-onset, debilitating disease. Then he could apply Darwin's principles to himself!
